http://www.moreheadstate.edu/Morehead State University has the same policy as the one mentioned in the article. Many of my friends who live on campus have had to remove their wireless router.
The technology policy is pretty wordy and never really says they are prohibited I don't think, but many people are finding out the hard way that it doesn't have to be written down I suppose.
I've read accounts on slashdot of people saying how many people in their classes could barely use a CLI.
No shit, I see this everyday. I don't know what to blame it on, I enrolled in school that has a very young computer science dept, and the surrounding area does teach very much computer skills in their high schools.
And nearly no one in my classes can use a CLI for anything. Despite my ranting about the command line being the front line!
I'm not an expert by any means but I just get the feeling that many of these people who graduate never seeing a C:\ or $ may be put in some uncomfortable situations in a job.
I am noticing pretty much the same thing. I am currently in my first senior year and nearly everyone else at my school who is a computer science major wants to be in game design/development.
I was very surprised about this, almost no one cares about theoretical computer science, or even software engineering. Simply games.
The same is true for their retention. Many of them drop after their freshman year or their first real math class and data structures course.
I ended up saving $150+ this semester by buying textbooks online from private individuals. Many of them from overseas. A systems analyst and design book that normally goes for $100 in the states I got for $25. Same book, except that it was an edition that was only supposed to be sold in India. A calculus book I needed went for $30 instead of $100...the list goes on.
My trick is to go to the University bookstore and lookup which books are required for my class, then record their ISBN numbers so I can find it online!
Yeah, but that was the point. 2001 ASO was meant for the more technically minded movie goers (even though quite a few movie goers in the lates sixties went to drop acid and watch the nice colors.)
Whereas as Star Wars first and formost was about the storing of good vs. evil, father and son blah blah blah...
They were appealling to two different viewpoints in viewers.
This may be the time to snatch up some valuable beach front properties in those soon to be get-away resort towns of Vladivostok and Anchorage!
On a side note, the Yahoo report states that if when icecaps melt the ocean levels would not rise right? Because the ice is already in the water.
Well wouldn't the actual ocean levels diminish because water occupies less space when it is a liquid then when it is a solid?
Actually you can drag things onto the start menu in XP:)
But I agree with you that My Network Places is pretty stupid. I would like to see Network Neigh. back even if it sounds like a Mr. Rogers spin off.
Don't hold your breath.

Depends which XP you are talking about. I've worked with home and pro alot and home isn't all that invinceable.
