I don't get the "in thing" among both ordinary posters and corporations in assuming that everyone is a scumbag. Most people are honest
Most people are indeed honest. However, most Slashdot posters seem to think that they have a right to free entertainment. More often than not, justified by some ridiculous diatribe about how the copying is cheap.
Actually, this is the same way you get the idea that most corporations assume that everyone is out to steal from them. That's not at all true, but it sure seems that way in Slashdot-type circles. The reality is, it's only prevalent in the industries that everyone is stealing from. Go figure...
Note, I don't agree with the OP's assertion - I see no reason to believe this person pirated Aperture. I'm just offering an explanation of one tiny thing you said.
He is not complicit in his own beating and firing because he spoke up.
Spoke up? He emailed insults to people.
I'm thinking that the Bill of Rights never was popular down there.
What does this have to do with the Bill of Rights? This was a pair of hicks feeling insulted and behaving disgracefully in response.
What you need to understand is that your sort of idealism doesn't heal a broken bone. That's the danger of ignoring reality, and the reality is that if you insult someone in a highly emotionally inflammatory way, you may catch a beating for it.
Here's something I've noticed - Open Source advocates consistently seem to believe that anyone that doesn't agree with the wholeheartedly are 'shills' of some sort.
Does that mean the vast majority of humanity is on Microsoft's payroll? If so, how do I get some of this sweet cash? I actually prefer their system.
Shhh - you'll annoy the zealots, and it seems like they're hungry.
Hell, I've only rebooted my current XP machine twice - once to install a video driver update, and a second time when a game crashed the same driver. XP didn't even go down during that crash - it apparently switched itself to a generic driver and gave me a dialog explaining the situation and recommend I reboot to fix it.
As a matter of fact, the only blue screen I've had in the last three years was a dead DIMM. I'd call that a fair reason for the OS to go down. Actually, I'd be pissed if it didn't under those circumstances.
No, it's what happens when you combine stupidity, righteous holiness, rotgut moonshine, and boredom with sister-fucking.
While I'm absolutely appalled the man would be assaulted, considering where he lived, he wasn't very smart to do that. You can't provoke stupid people with something as personal as religion and not expect to get some sort of extreme payback. I'm not saying the victim is at fault here, but he's certainly complicit.
If you're going to talk about mobile chips, the Pentium M far outclasses any competitive chip on power consumption, and particularly hard on power per watt. Hell, the Yonah performs close to AMD's desktop chips clocked at the same rate, and they consume less power under full load than the AMD consumes idling. How's that for a differential?
Do you really see Intel being pushed out of PCs by something that's not even close to the capability of their products?
To recast the question - do you really see these laptops as competing with Intel? I didn't get that sense from the article at all - it was more like Intel saying "Go ahead, forge the market, and if there's anything there, we'll come in later." Pretty smart business, if you ask me.
That's too obvious. I recommend doing something with roosters fucking.

Microsoft has been saying this for years. They invented AJAX as an extention to speed up HTML since it is just not fast enough in their opinion.
Just admit it - you pulled this out of your ass, right? I can't figure out how you could think that making HTTP requests from JavaScript speeds up HTML in any way at all. What is your reasoning here?
Did I piss off a flordia resident? Don't worry, I don't think you're too much of a maroon.
Yeah, they're dying all right. They're barely making more money than most people can comprehend.
Yeah, let's check up on those flordia maroons.

Average clueless noobs don't post on Slashdot. They take one look at the incomprehensible ugliness of this site and go somewhere else.
A serious question - did this death have an emotional effect on you?
Newtonian mechanics are a close enough approximation of the way the everyday world works.
That's more like it.
To be dogmatic about atheism, I'd need to have a concept of God, and some pretty strong feelings
An atheist with a concept of God isn't an atheist, by definition.
That's different - his opinion agrees with slashdot groupthink, which makes it automatically right.
Yeah, I guess I was replying to a sort of roll-up of a lot of posts.
Still, I can't see this hurting Intel in any way. These markets don't overlap at all.

It's one thing when you're a troll on Slashdot using that language.
That's +5 Insightful language on Slashdot. The trolls are tolerant of other people's viewpoints.
I'm not positive which point you're trying to enforce by sucking the soul out of the memory of a tragedy. Could you elaborate?

Technology can't save the world, but access to information is most assuredly an equalizer.
No, no, no, no, no. Bigotry directed at the US is insightful, informative, and just plain smart thinking.
Repeat this mantra 5 times an hour or your right to post will be revoked.

We've learned that Slashdot will happily sensationalize stories to get page views.
We've learned that people ignore warnings built into software because "they know better."
We've learned that wasting time is more fun than working (although this is a general lesson).
We've learned that I have one tiny testicle and one extremely large testicle. I've said too much.
Almost constantly, assuming that it has something to do with sex.
Are those birds migratory?
