Your whole sense of anger seems to revolve around the belief that the iPhone's value drops if the price drops. It seems to indicate that you bought it because it was expensive and you wanted something that most people couldn't afford. Next time, buy something because it has value to you at the time you get it.
You will hear a number of people say this, but technology always drops in price.
I can't believe you're attributing the obviously criminal acts of this woman to sexism on the part of the board. Yes, women can commit crimes, too. What she's done amounts to simple hacking via social engineering. Last time I checked, it was illegal, too. Forget resignation, Dunn needs to get an attorney, because she's looking at jail time if this plays all the way out.
It's Because they Banned Booth Babes
on
The End of E3?
·
· Score: 4, Interesting
I'm not joking about this(see title). Booth babes are tremendously important to bringing in customers, and if E3 sends the message that they're taking a puritanical attitude, they only tick off the vendors who spend lots of money to set up booths, and discourage people from coming to the show.
Of course it raises a security threat, but it's enough to say, "I'm not going to upgrade windows anymore" and just turn off win update.
I have no plans to migrate to Vista either. I wonder if this is Bill Gates' final parting gift or an even harder line from the new regime. Either way, forcing people to use your product doesn't work.
People don't like being criticized. If you go around and pick fights, you shouldn't expect them to drop down and kiss your --- on the the spot.
find ways to demonstrate the problem without being in conflict.
Modern comics are written by professional writers and contain far more complex vocabulary than he's crediting them. The only exceptions would be special characters like "Bizarro" that speak improper grammar because it's a trait of the character.
Even the japanese manga imported has proper grammar if it's translated correctly.
Google, with this deal, has with one move destroyed the reputation that led to their success.
I'm calling it unethical, but not because banner ads are "unethical". The unethical act that they've committed is that they've broke the rule they set for themselves of not being annoying to their users.
They may in an aboslute sense, not be evil by doing displaying visual ads, but by knowingly choosing to bring in annoying content, they are.
I'd like the opportunity to compete for a Microsoft job. I suppose I could send in an application, but I doubt that you can get even close if you don't know someone and conform to the certain demographic criteria. Plain and simple, you have to be like the people that are already there to get a job, as is true for any job.
However, an open challenge like this would even the score. Microsoft could help their reputation if they'd set up something like this in the U.S.
Absolutely no way in hell am I going to buy a DVD player with a self-destruct code.
The penchant for control of the DVD industry has crossed the line. They're only going to end up with lawsuits and wasted capital on their hands.
That is such a stupid idea. Why waste 20 trillion dollars on a glorified space-parasol when that would be enough money to feed or employ every man, woman, and child in this country, and probably the rest of North America as well.
I'm angry that people even would think about doing that kind of thing when we can't even get health insurance right.
I think part of the original poster's problem is that the CD/DVD standards change subtley over the years without anyone really noticing. My toshiba laptop can't record on 700MB CDs for example.
I don't think the problem will be solved until the industry is more forthright about versioning on media and drives.
One problem I see is that web sites like amazon are using flash plugins to get the effect of pop-ups without blocking them. Will this ti more common in IE?
Someone from SCO isn't going to have trouble getting a job another UNIX company. SCO is tame compared to Enron, Worldcom, Adelphia, K-Mart (ops, not retail), and Anderson consulting. Fraud gets attention, not copyright lawsuits.
The person who submitted article included SCO to go along with the SCO bashing we've seen in the last few months on Slashdot, but frankly, the general public doesn't care about these esoteric hissy fits.
Now that they've satisfied their scientific curiosity, they'd do well to destroy the virus, destroy the lab, and destroy any and all documents recording the techniques they used.
We don't have enough control over microscopic materials to provide adequate protection or security for something like this. All it takes is for 1 virus out of millions in a culture to escape the lab, and we may find that we've architected our own destruction.
Call me a luddite, but I seriously believe that there has been a lapse in ethics in the biological and medical sciences these days that hurts us all.
I'm sorry, but I think the probability of safe gene-doping existing is still well-within the realm of science fiction. And even if it existed, so what? Does that mean that if I dope with Michael Johnson's genes and go into a meet against Michael Johnson, that I will have an advantage?
Would johnson have to quit the meet if they deem that his natural genes are better than the other athletes?
And some gene therapies have caused death. it's not that stable.
What we've found is that at the olympic level, training and diet do far more for atheletic performance than faddish treatments. Maybe this would be used in bodybuilding where they through all sorts of chemicals at their bodies, but I doubt it for the performance events.
And finally, whether it's valid or not, they've gotten too zealous about the testing. The cold medicine disqualification of the russian gymnast last olympics is an example of how things have gone too far.
A lot of people who have procrastination problems do so because they feel anxiety about the work. I don't mean high-level anxiety attacks, but just general anxiety over work that may not be very fun.
You have ot learn to allow yourself to feel he anxiety, without flinching or trying to supress it, and then start working even though you experience it. It will eventually subside. Also, you'll start to realize that feelings are just that: feelings. They provide information, but they don't have to control you.
As for ADD/ADHD, don't even worry about those labels. It's a sad society when not being a driven workaholic is seen as a mental disorder.
If you consider what felony means, they're saying that essentially they'll deprive you of many of your key citizenship rights, like the right to vote in some states, the right to get a good job, all because you shared an MP3.
Yes this is overkill.
RIAA must be stopped.

By that logic, you can't port to Windows and Macintosh because Apple & Microsoft compete. But in the scheme of things, who cares?

Hewlett-Packard (HP) was once known for how much they cared about their employees.
It just goes the show that short-term, bottom-line only thinking really isn't good business sense.

HTTP may be critical to the web, but it is not critical to web development. All you need to know is HTML and you can develop pages like the pros.
