There are terrorists there, and we knew they were. It was in the best interest of this country, and for that matter every country to get rid of them before they attack others. We didn't make terrorists at all, it is every person's responcibility to decide how to act on a given occasion. If their choice is to become a terrorist, they shouldn't be on Earth anyway.
If you think that the world is not composed of merely good people and bad people then YOU really are diluted as said before. There is no middle ground. You either are a good person, or are not. Good people do occasionally slip up, and it doesn't make them bad. Deciding to dedicate your life to killing people, yeah, that does make you bad. I've never been outside this country, so I have never had the chance to wrong anyone out there bad enough to justify them deciding to wipe out me, my family, or my country. So if they do decide that, they are bad people.
Also, I don't think France is worth bombing, but for the record, not only are they "not with us", last I heard they were outright supporting our enemies. That, again, would classify some of them (not all of them mind you) as bad people.
I'm done with this, I really don't care if you think I am backing out or anything, I have offered to keep it out of here while still catering to your infantile need to show off your side to everyone on slashdot. You still chose to post here.
Besides I am clearly not changing your mind, and you most certainly are not changing mine, what good is it?
As an aside though, I didn't instigate a dang thing! I merely said that going to war was the right thing and still is. I never directed anything toward you, or anyone else on slashdot, if anything, you jumping on my post, calling me delusional, and insisting I didn't know what I was talking about is instigating.
Since when is suggesting you take this off a forum and into a private matter "having the last word"? I am merely trying to be respectful by not loading this thread up with a very off-topic argument.
Just because you wish not to be respectful, doesn't mean I need to bring myself down as well, what are you, 12?
"Looking for easy ways out, aren't we?"
Absoultly, if you feed me an opening i'm definatly going to take it, who wouldn't?
"Really? List one, genuine, positive outcome"
How about the several hundred terrorists, and terrorist helpers that are now six feet under. Frankly, that alone justifies the action.
"That is precisely why "pre-emptive" wars...."
This wasn't really pre-emptive, we knew they were harboring the enemy, and it's like the old saying goes, "Your either with us or against us".
"And there is nothing to be proud of claiming that all the ignorant morons are your citizens"
My my aren't we intellegent, if you go back and actually read my responce you will notice I said nothing of the sort. I mentioned that some of them were in the US, however, I first mentioned many were not.
"covnersly only those who despise reasearch and knowledge and who are instead wholly based in make-believe never-never lands of apocalyptic "evil versus good" crusades were for the war."
It's not my fault you are too diluted to notice who the bad guys are. Perhaps I am not the one in a "make-believe never-never land".
"trying to project his utter denial of reality onto others"
Never did. You can believe whatever you want. Its no skin off my back should you choose to ignore reality.
"Ah, yes the classic "I will have the last word, rebutt me where noone can see it" trick. You must think me new to this online forum gig. It isn't happening. You brought this into this public discussion, I will follow where it leads."
Know what? I really do prefer take this up over e-mail. If you feel like it needs to be here anyway, feel free to post the responces I send to you, I really don't care. I will not carry this on over slashdot though. If YOU choose to have offtopic posts spewing from YOUR account, that's your deal.
The same could also be said of your position of course.
Wow, a predictable fiasco eh? I bet that can't be said of EVERY OTHER WAR!!!!!
Of course, i'm not sure why I would even need to prove my point considering your username. It seems to me that all the people against the war are either not from the US, or are the same people that want to disarm us anyway (which is part of the democratic platform). In my opinion, anyone who has done their research would not be against the war.
This is all getting very off topic though, if you care to take it further, e-mail me or something...
Going to war with Iraq was the right thing to do, still is. The UN doesn't really help the US that much.
Also, I am with (nearly) everyone else, I seriously doubt that other countries forming their own DNS servers will hurt us that bad. It will however cripple them. I still hope it doesn't happen though, there are a few non-us sites that I use (mostly mirrors for Linux, since many US ones get bogged down).
1) Yes I am. 2) No I didn't, I prefer to get my information from multiple sources so that I may reason out what is is actual information, and what is merely the writer's "slant" on things. This can be done more efficiently through T.V. and the internet. 3) Linking a person known to be adversarial, with another person as such, although somewhat on topic, is a stretch. Especially consider that you use, as said before, baseless information. Contrary to what many believe, the war isn't about oil. I would support an attack there if we didn't even get oil from there. We are doing people a favor, most of them know, and acknowledge that, and that is fact, there is video documentation of that. Sad you don't know it.
Offtopic, big time. Infact, it's a shame there isn't a moderation button for "blast clean off the face of the internet". I could leap into a big spill about how wrong you are, and how skewed your information is, but i think the facts quite well speak for themselves, you should look at them sometime.
Did you by any chance read the name of the picture file, where it out right says it is a reference to goatse? I didn't know what it was until I saw that.
Windows will NEVER be as fast as a properly configured Linux machine, nor will it ever be as stable.
As for it not being ready for general distribution in 15 years, HA! It will never be ready for the general public, they're morons. I don't think I need to prove this one considering the content of your post.
It IS big news! You are talking about a window system that is basically brand new. Comparing it to what was there 2 years ago is like comparing 2 completely different window systems. The fact that it is finally running after being scratched and re-written a few times is significant.
Well, at least they broke into the car instead of the home. Best defense for home, alarm and 12 gauge. Best defense for your car, alarm and a 12 gauge. I am not joking about this. Likke you said, the police can't really do anything about it. You have no way of knowing if they had intent to harm you, so don't chance it. Get a carry permit. Have your mom do so as well. Train on whatever guns you have. It may save your life someday. (It saved my brothers).

No, seeing posts where someone chews someone else out for something that was clearly stated to be an opinion, is why Slashdot has so little credibility. Heaven forbid someone form an opinion! "If I were to take your argument to an extreme", you haven't already done this? Uh oh.
How about a place this is hurt not even from a ban, but from merely having tight laws? Oh, say, New York, or Washington State. No sence re-writting what someone else has already done. Go to the NRA's website for some enlightenment.
Which means that the second you pull that stun gun away, they are fine again, in pain (I have been zapped, it DOES hurt) but otherwise, they are now pissed, and ready to attack you again.
Well, be careful using it as primary defense, there is a guy out here who does self defense classes that uses the strongest stun gun he could find on himself every class to show how worthless they are. He did mention that a tazer is different from a stun gun though, and he says tazers are pretty good. I mention because some people think they are the same thing.
It is like I have said for a long time. Fighting crime is not why the police are here. They will not be there when you need them, and really can't be expected to be. They are here to clean up the aftermath (papers, finding the criminals AFTER the crime). It is YOUR job to protect yourself. I have thought about it. I don't live in fear of being attacked here. I live with the knowledge that should I be attacked, I can at least try to protect myself.
I agree with you on the car industry, I prefer German and Japanese cars. However, Boeing is better then Airbus. As for "The original user who posted the gun crime stuff may never find your comment because you posted it in the wrong place." your probably right, it would have been more effective to post directly to the parent, but clearly people have found my posts. I am still not sure what data you think I am supposed to put on here, but it seems cowardly to post as anonymous.

Besides there is the ever popular phrase:
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" (And it isn't.)

You probably did, it runs faster then Fluxbox on mine (although I think I may have screwed up my copy of fluxbox)
Doesn't suprise me, OS-X is a minced piece of crap. Whereas Enlightenment is built from the ground up to be pretty, useful, and fast.
"Shiny things distract simple minds", guess what this makes you. I have never found it distracting.
Do me a favor, look up the phrase "work in progress". The support is coming, I doubt you could do that work any faster.

You carry a .44 mag, nice! Yeah, i bet that would make most muggers wet their pants.
That is an AWESOME idea!!!!! Now I feel like buying an ipod shell of the internet, and mixing up some arsonists playdough
Very true, it hurts, but if you don't keep constant voltage on them, they get up and are ok, and you can't run and keep constant voltage on them
