    No no no,
I dont want other people to have any say in the matter, this would be a tool that only I could use. And of course it would affect events in an entirely unobtursive manner, it would still appear that congress was voting, bush was vetoing and the supreme court was deciding, but no, I would have all of the power.

  2. I want to vote instead of congress on Ideas Unlimited: 11 Suggestions for New Inventions · · Score: 1

I want a program that sits on my computer, similar to an email program. And everytime a bill is put before congress, a bill is set to be ratified by the president, or a supreme court decision is about to be made, instead, I get to decided.

This way the government would no longer be controlled by the corporations. No more USA PATRIOT act, no more DMCA, harsh spam/telemarketing bills that wouldnt get shot down in the courts. I would find some way to legalize marijuana. Change the penalties for different laws around (You stole billions from your comapany through cooking the books? You are going to jail, no there is nothing you can do about, you probably wont be coming back)

To leave some balance in the system, I wouldnt be able to create laws, just vote on them. Hell I would even take sugesstions, but no money(then it would be what we have now, but way worse).

If you would read the article, you would see that "Taipei 101 will hold 3 of the World's Tallest Building titles when it is topped out: Tallest to structural top, Tallest to roof and Highest occupied floor."

Even without the 'toothpick', it still has the highest occupied floor, and the highest roof. So it is still taller than all of those other buildings (which also have the 'toothpicks').

Here in oregon, it is even worse than that. Not only is all of the liquor controlled by the state.

The only place that you can by liquor is in state owned and run liquor stores. You can get beer in the grocery store but everything else is in the state liquor stores. The prices are the same everywhere and they all close at around 7pm.

Although that is a very interesting graph in some respects, 500 years is a very small amout of time to measure something as huge as the atmosphere. Compare these two graphs: The so called mauna loa curve over the past 50 years (here) or the graph of the co2 in the atmosphere taken from ice cores in the past 400,000 years. (here) As you can easily see, in the long term, the co2 has always fluctuated significantly and right now the co2 is increasing as it has been for sometime.

Well using numbers from previous posts, the slowing down method is still better than hitting it directly. Assuming that you are falling straight down at 3136mph at 100km, (which of course you wouldnt be, but just for comparison purposes) that is still significantly slower than the previously mentioned speed of 17,000mph to be in orbit.

This is true, expect that this particular virus is a worm. The whole point of it is that if you run the exe, then it sends itself to everyone on your list. It is very unlikely that someone would get it through kazaa seeing as it would have to be put there purposely by the user. Also, on ftp/kazaa, you actually have to request the file and download it. It doesnt automatically target you and end up on your computer.

I work as a loader at UPS and I have a few comments.

    1. Stuff gets misloaded. It ends up on the wrong truck. Right now our region is the top in the nation and we around 1 for 3000 misload rate. My shift handles between 55,000 and 75,000 boxes everynight this time of year. Stuff WILL be late some of the time. It just happens.

    2. Stuff gets damaged. Not really all that much, but it happens at least once or twice a night on my belt. (My belt handles between 5,000 and 7,000 packages/night). We as loaders are expected to load approx 10 packages per minute or 1 every six seconds. We do not have time to insure that your box is treated perfectly well. We throw boxes (not computer boxes but little ones). Things get dropped. Boxes break open. My best advice is do what every one else has said. Take anything out that my be dislodged by droping the box. Put it in its original packing (we ship tons of apples everyday). I have never seen a computer box break open. And take the hard drive out.

    3. If you ship something ground, it is going by train or truck. We do not put ground packages on a plane ever(that I know of). In fact most close destinations, we even ship the air packges by ground. We are not going to fly something if it is only a 4 hour drive away. That said, see the first comment. I have misloaded a package that was supposed to go by truck to another hub about 3 hours away. Instead it went to North Carolina (I work at Portland, OR). That package took 13 days after I loaded it to get to its destination.

So over all my best advice is this, we dont damage all that many packages, but it is enough. Just get insurance and you willl be fine.
