Eradicating poverty doesn't make much money, it actually would really mess up the capialist system. It's called inflation. As long as capitalism exists, poor people will exist as well.

At the end of the day we don't need to invoke mysterious agents from the stars to explain the start of life on Earth. We already have both religious and scientific explanaitions that satisfy all rational criteria for the origin of life.

No rational criteria exists to justify any religious explanations. How is it rational to think "some super high power being said 'be' and created everything"? Sounds pretty shaky to me. Sounds like... something primitive man thought up to explain things he couldn't understand.

What I find amusing with this is how ferverently people here support Open Source, free beer, freedom of information, screwing copyrights, etc. And yet, when it's their own stuff that's being used like this they are all against it. How is it different if we all distribute MP3s from some high profile band, or distribute your publicly posted comments?

One thing i've heard is the "if something I did makes money, i want a cut". Which goes against the whole opensource concept. How about all the people who contributed to Linux, and Redhat sells a distro for profit. They are not getting a cut from that. But that's ok?

You don't know how correct you are. Basic human psychology: people naturally look for evidence to support their own beliefs. It's stupid, but i've come to believe that the human race is pretty stupid.

As for hoping on the bandwagon, that is true as well: in a group, people act as sheep, following whoever can muster the charisma to lead. While i really don't agree with most of the bible, there are a few comments it makes that ring true. Humanity = sheep. we follow whoever claims the staff, until someone else can challenge them for it.
