As far as I know, all of the MP3's on MP3.com are freely available to the public, and are not goverened by any of RIAA's silly ideas. It's not like you can download the lastest top-40 junk from MP3.com.
It's as if RIAA is just attacking a sound FORMAT as opposed to actual copyright violations. Sick! Good luck to MP3.com.
I have 12 CD's with me at school today. I doubt I will listen to them all, but at least I get to choose which one I want to listen to, depending on my mood.
I started with The Stooges (skipping several songs), then The Queers, and now The Vapids....
It would be SWEET to have several hundred CD's worth of music right here with me, even if I couldn't play it all right away...
It's incredibly significant. The No Sympathy For Redmond invasion tour is a strong force leading the People on the path to destroying Microsoft, one desktop at a time.
I take them very seriously. If you are not part of Propaganda, you must fear them. All hail JFK.
Yup, it may be old, but it's something worth checking out. I'm actually *very* happy I downloaded that demo. When my hard drive decided to implode, I was able to get on the Net and send out a couple of important emails (and read Slashdot!) before getting my computer fully functional again.
Get it...it may come in handy!
Cheers, Vic

I'm glad to see this happening. Hopefully this turns out well and is managed properly (I mean, even a Linux project can go screwey without the proper implementation).
It looks like they're making a good choice. Best of luck!

Pilot-testing with Linux boxes is being down this summer .....hmm..you might want to edit that part, Hemos!;-)
Whoah: Note that if your drive is greater than 8.4Gb in size, you should create a 2Gb root partition at the beginning of the drive, and assign the rest of the drive to a "/var" or "/opt" partition.
How about posting the Linux Kernel news under a different heading than "Linux" (perhaps "Linux Kernel")? That way anyone who feels that kernel updates are not newsworthy can filter them out and not bother complaining about it to those of us who find it interesting.:-)
My own opinion: I happen to enjoy seeing the new Kernels posted here. It often prompts some good discussion, even though there are quite a few "who cares about new kernels" threads. Also, frequent kernel updates are one of the beauties of Linux. Quick features and bugfixes...gotta love it! Besides, nobody says you MUST download newer versions anyway. If it works for you, stick with it unless you really want to try it out.
- Build a Linux-only computer (or, get a VAR...) - Make sure there is only one partition: Linux - Buy a Windows 9X CD - Get a computer-illiterate person to install Windows on a second partition of this computer
Hmm...I wonder how well that would go? Would this newbie be able to partition the drive and set everything up properly? Get the computer to dual-boot? Somehow, I doubt this.
...and silly me always thought the best part was the WING!
There's no way in hell I'd eat a chicken that had four legs protruding out of it. That's just gross. Imagine what a Thanksgiving turkey would look like? I think I'd much prefer a nice grain-fed non-genetic-mutant non-chemically-enhanced chicken.

I guess they won't be reading Slashdot.
On the bright side, at least the NASA people aren't using WinXX for any of the "real" work up there. But I'd hate to see them lose any important scientific data to a crashed computer.
It seems like I've been hearing about new domain restries for years now. What ever happened to all of these.WEB,.ART,.XXX,.whatever top-level that have been talked about so many times before?
CNN needs to start using the "foot" icon for some of their own stories. Or maybe a foot icon as the new Boeing logo?
Like it says, they're related links. Did you read the article?
In that case, you might also want to check out the
Ottawa Carleton Linux Users Group (OCLUG) too.
Welcome!

Do you always listen to your music linearly?

I thought it was absolutely wonderful to see that movie at 12:15AM on Canada Day! Perfect timing!
I don't think I stopped laughing from the beginning until about half way through the movie when I finally started to hurt.
It's probably Y2K compliant, but I'm sure the real question on everyone's minds here is DOES IT RUN LINUX? :-)

Wow, 30 cups/day is pretty impressive, but you need to more than triple that intake.
Must be nice not needing to sleep.

Someone should try something like this:
- Build a Linux-only computer (or, get a VAR...)
- Make sure there is only one partition: Linux
- Buy a Windows 9X CD
- Get a computer-illiterate person to install Windows on a second partition of this computer
