The solution is so simple, I'm not sure why anyone didn't think of it before... just allow people to access the data only once.
Wikipedia? You only need to go there once - you certainly don't want to pay for that article on Progressive Outer Retinal Necrosis more than once!
New York Times? Nothing new there - you don't need to go back to it more than once.
Bob's House of Fetish? Why would you want to browse there multiple times, you sicko?
Amazon.com - precisely how many books do you really need to buy? There are only so many combinations of sentences that can be crafted in the English language; besides which, Amazon is so totally a "one-click" solution that there is no reason for you to need to access data there twice.
Honestly, there are so many examples I could go on all night. But I won't, suffice it to say that I agree with the article's central thesis - say "no" to multiple charges for access to the same data multiple times! Allow an ISP to prevent you from browsing today so that you won't be charged tomorrow. It's got my vote!
Bad logic. If you follow your argument, then it doesn't matter what they're taught on, Linux, Mac or otherwise, it will be out of date by the time they leave college.
I'm not sure I'm following the logic... Windows XP is getting close to EOL. Why wouldn't you use Windows 7? Certainly it and Windows Server 2008 has more features to make admin'ing easier.
Any arrangement between a supplier and a reseller that means the reseller will not advertise, display or sell the goods the supplier supplies below a specified price is illegal.
Happily, in Australia it's known as third-line forcing and it's totally illegal. So when we finally get the iPad, Apple are going to have some interesting conversations with our competition commission.
Well, not necessarily. He would have at least had isolate the issue to hardware, and they'd have to be pretty specific about it - which would lead to the CPU. Then he wouldn't have forked out enough money for almost an entire new PC!
I'm quite curious as to what it was that crapped out though. But installing using an engineering sample really is a bit stupid.
Personally, I find it more curious that if he was willing to fork out so much cash and he was writing a book that he didn't contact Microsoft support and paid for someone to assist him with finding out where it was borking, and why.
lol... Senator Joyce is an idiot who was even refuted by his own party on economic policy, and he's the shadow treasurer. He's in opposition and is not part of the government of the day, just so you know.
I'm curious why your company is upgrading to Windows 7. What has Windows 7 got that Windows XP hasn't?

What is the cause of U.S. agricultural inefficiencies?
Do I win a prize? This is about Climate Satellites in Jeopardy, right?
The problem with this is that what happens if they say something is bad, when it isn't? If it's balanced, then you can work this out for yourself.

Alice is a man.
Erg. Actually, if Apply is the reseller and the software maker is the supplier, then this is all arse-backwards. Guess this also doesn't apply!
You are absolutely correct. Sorry.
However, the ACCC also has powers to stop resale price maintenance:
Happily, in Australia it's known as third-line forcing and it's totally illegal. So when we finally get the iPad, Apple are going to have some interesting conversations with our competition commission.
Say "no" to bed head.

"Don't buy any fucking popcorn".
Damn it, if I see popcorn fucking you'll bet I'll be buying it. To hell with the cost, fucking popcorn is what I want to see!
I'd imagine they hate it worse when the marker uses an automated plagiarism detection program and fails them.
... and I read it in 2002. On slashdot.
You know that this is a repost of a 2002 slashdot article?
There's only one thing for it - we need to do a metastudy on this serious issue!
Doh! I stand corrected.
Wow, troll? Hardly. I love it when mods try to stifle debate - ironic that this is all about freedom of expression.

Yeah, there's nothing quite like a citizens right to child porn and bestiality. The government - they are oppressing our civil rights!
Why? Wikipedia does
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Yup, beautiful. Still think we're backward now, Americans?
Oh I am so leaving myself open for some backlash here...
