I'm paying $100/month for 5mbps down and 800kbps up. I have a choice of ONE ISP only. Until now I'm actually pretty happy with what I'm getting. But as of March 1st Xplornet (my isp) is imposing massive limitations. 2gb per day. 60gb per month. My price stays that same but they will heavily penalize my transfer rates if I go over that amount. This is completely unethical IMHO. Online backups, Netflix, Linux ISO downloads, not to mention normal usage will eat up that bandwidth in short order.
You say that UBB is good? Until you suffer under a ISP monopoly with greedy business practices don't even dare say that UBB is good.
I'm not so sure that it "lowers" quality. A couple of months or years raising a child gives you all sorts of special caring skills. Having children isn't a blackhole for professional or intellectual development.
Women don't HAVE to stay home with the kids. Some women WANT to stay home with the kids. Why can't "career" minded people get this? My wife wanted to stay home with the kids. Does this mean I should start complaining that I HAVE to go to work? Of course not.
I'd say it's because of interest.
Maybe GTK users got used to having different widget sets with different programs (GTK1, GTK2), while Kde users were more interested in a consistent desktop.
I know!
I've forwarded it to at least 500 or more people and I still haven't heard a single word from Bill Gates!

I've seen a few of these "please don't hack the riaa site" posts. If a similar flaw would be found with the pirate bay's website I'm sure these same "hackers" would also go out and exploit it. Boys will be boys.

Wouldn't KDE 4 be the first cross-platform desktop widget framework? Or don't they count it because it isn't completely done yet?
I propose a Section 2 to Godwin's Law which get's invoked when someone mentions 9/11, terrorism, or the middle east.

Big flamewar == more pageviews. More pageviews = more ad impressions. More ad impressions == higher profits
Except that I use Firefox with Adblock.... so yeah, whatever
I for one welcome our new metric overlords.
