It would probably be more appropriate to say, "...how many movies/commercials have used the same sounds that were also used in the game DOOM." Most of those sounds are pretty common sound effects library stuff.
The environmental liaison at White Sands said that simply by putting a person on the vehicle would significanlty lengthen the time to get the environmental study complete. That sounds pretty crazy to me.
Here are the basics:
-Send a vehicle to 62 miles twice in two weeks without replacing more than 10% by mass (not including propellant).
- The vehicle has to be able to carry three people up and back *safely*, but only one living person actually needs to go. The other two must be represented with ballast.
Yes, the person must come back safely.
Not everyone. I, for one, liked 2 a lot more than 1. It doesn't really live up to the original trilogy, but I definitely thought it was a step up from Episode I.

It wasn't PETA, but the ASPCA had a problem with feeding live maggots to Brooks' crow during the filming of Shawshank Redemption. They insisted the crew use maggots that had died of natural causes.
Most of those sounds are in Sound Ideas' "The General" 6000 series, copyright 1992.
It's not a link, but it's definitely in that library.
That's on Sound Ideas' "The General" series 6000 sound effects library. Disc 6015, track 28-1: "Fire,Ball - Impact and large fire burst, rumble."

Unfortunately, Joe Filmgoer will probably never notice.
