I agree with the why; no matter how cool it would be to be sniffing for wifi and running across the webservers' routing from my home machine, it seems silly to exert so much effort (read money) for the effect. Maybe is is useful for someone who does not want their website to be tracked by big brother(tm)... which is feasible in the US now-a-days. Yet just by doing that, one would need to be using open AP's that one is flying by, just asking for Federal Freddy to not so proverbially nail your ass to the proverbial wall.
Yet I disagree with the blimp. You have to be able to upload your requests, meaning you will need an amplified radio to communicate to the blimp, leading to alot of crosstalk. Same problem with the orbital idea. If you want to solve this problem with uber-transmitters like satellite dishes, you are looking at (i dont remember exactly from cs 428, but somewhere in the range of) 128kbps u/l and 64-48kbps d/l.
The only problem i see so far is the change in volume level. I really enjoy their discussion about m$. Especially the comment by Jeremy about the failure of the media center and its transformation into the Xbox 360. It is pretty much slashdot, without the humor or flamebait. 2 and 1/2 stars. Glad I listened.
Find 'booth babes'(tm) who actually know something about gaming! AMAZING! I have met a few (albiet not many) women who are avid gamers. Some are attractive. They exist, so why not spend a little more money on finding and hiring those who know the product.
If car shows didnt have reps who knew their shit, the company they worked for would be pumled by angry consumers, consumers who refused to purchase that product due to poor representation. Same should be done here.
The intersting point in the 'The Scientist' article is Egilman's (advertisment placer's) approach to a system which he considers to be corrupt. from TA: the JOEM "(has)indirect ties to Dow Chemical and its strategic partner, GlaxoSmithKline}. By posting his article as an advertisement, Egilman bypassed a system of information suppression. His motives were not for fame or glory, but to publish material to those who are interested and have a say in such issues. I for one give Egilman a thumbs up. Very insightful approach to the problem.

John, who has created nothing, survives to steal other ideas, whereas the creator has been ruined.
In summary, it fosters a world which rewards theft instead of production.

The ideals we aspire to in our personal lives should be in tune with our ideals for government, yet to uphold the ideals that are manifest within Radiohead's music in a geo-poli-economic sphere requires a social contract which will assure a lack of abuse by any of the members. This is the opposite of the de facto case. As such, the ideals will have to remain purely personal with the hope that it will spread throughout the world in such a manner as to allow such a contract to come into existance.

The economic movement within the US is toward the exportation of intellectual property. That is what is being created in the US, well... that and marketing... and military weapons... and corn (im from the midwest). Why would a company spend billions of dollars creating something when it can be stolen, re-engineered, and resold for nothing. We have a right to protect our investment.

The article states the the prosthetic generates its own power, probably a kinetic power generator. How much power can such a device output, especially to run an embeded AI which determines the movement of the limb. Does the limb eventually run out of power (reducing it back to a normal prosthetic)? Such as, if the limb is not used for an extended period of time? The very design of it is ingenious though, and I would not doubt that they have made the system fully self-sufficient. Very cool.
