    Look at original Gmail vs. Gmail+. Many people, including myself, would not have become dependent on Gmail if they had known what would happen to it.

    Uhm, enable IMAP if you haven't already and move your mail to a new provider, forward the email to that provider.

    Its not hard, what exactly are you whining about? That they didn't stay the same until they become irrelevant and then shutdown cause I'm pretty sure you'd bitch about that as well. If you wanted a static non-changing client, you were pretty stupid for using webmail in the first place.

    What crime did he report?

    The NSA spying on its own citizens was explicitly authorized by the patriot act, which clearly states the NSA gets access to ANY TANGIBLE INFORMATION that may exist.

    Before you crucify me, I'm not saying this is okay, but we've had a freaking law on the books that gave them legal grounds to do it.

    Spying on foreign governments and people ... well thats kind of their job and charter, so no crime there. His release documents about these operations clearly puts him into the treason catagory.

    So what crime did he actually expose or report?

    Great pains are taken to ensure that doesn't happen. Most space organizations are VERY concerned with the possibility of accidentally infecting some other world with our spew. Perhaps, in the grand scheme of things, it would be better if they didn't try so hard.

    Who's to say that some random bacteria won't evolve eventually into something more worth of the beautiful thing called life than we are.

    Before my son was born, I thought we should be masters of the universe.

    Now, I find it odd that I suddenly value even pond scum and virii. I for some reason seem to understand a little better that all life is interwoven in the cosmos and that its all beautiful. Or at least I think I understand. I really don't. I just hate the idea of death and ceasing to exist now more than ever.

    ... how is that in any way beneficial to the country? It doesn't change anything that happened, and he leaked far more bad than good. He didn't do a targeted leak of 'wrongs' being committed, he stole all he could and dumped it.

    Even Russia thinks he's a douche and will be happy to hand him over to us if he drops anything else ... what does that tell you? Hmm? Russia doesn't even really want him ... think before you say something stupid.

    He didn't report a crime, the news paper reporters that went through the documents and found that did.

    He stole and dumped a fuckton of documents regardless of what they were about, including documents that never should have been published.

    Blanket theft and dumping of documents does not a hero make.

    I consider him a traitor, which he is.

    I was on his side right up until I realized he just dumped anything he could download. Had he targeted nothing more than the wrong doing specifically, I would still be on his side, but the fact that he dumped things that were the very reason we have the NSA for, thats when he lost my vote. Guess what, countries spy on each other, you're a moron if you don't understand this. Thats the way it works.

    Had he stopped at the spying on our own citizens, he'd be something other than a traitor. But he didn't. The newspaper reporters are the ones who honed in on the domestic spying, not him.

    Get a dose of reality there pal, he's a traitor from the word go. Just because he happened to dump something that the NSA does bad doesn't justify the fact that he dumped a whole bunch of shit that he shouldn't have.

    Are you blind? Russia will kick his ass out if he leaks anything more about the US spy operations ... what does that tell you? He's not a hero to anyone, he's just a tool being used to further the agenda of a different set of politicians than his previous employers.

    He's not a hero. He's a traitor.

    He would have been a hero if he leaked the NSA spying on US citizens and stopped there. Thats not what he did. He, just like Bradley Manning, just dropped every thing they could find into a news reporters hands.

    The only reason the spying on the US citizens came out first is because the reporters saw it, not because of his actions.

    I supported him right up until I realized he just stole anything and everything he could and spewed it to anyone willing to listen. That makes him just another attention whore who should be taken out and shot.

    There was a right way to do this, he didn't even try a little bit to go that route.

    With android you have to give all or nothing permissions before the app is installed and can not install the app without giving those permissions.

    Thats so Google can steal your info.

    With iOS you install the app, then grant permissions as needed, and not granting permissions doesn't stop the app from working. I simply don't give any apps access to my contact list ... boom, no contact list stealing.

    You can't install most Android apps without letting them steal your contacts for some unknown retarded reasons.

    Do you ever post anything that isn't utterly ignorant of the way the world works?

    What matters is that they are marking money hand over fist. No matter how you try to make it sound bad, they are bringing in profits faster than anyone.

    THAT is what ACTUALLY matters.

    I can have a business with more revenue than any business before it in the entire history of the universe just by making a machine that you put a dollar in and it gives you a $1.50 back. I'll still be losing my ass, but my revenue numbers will be incredible ... right up until I run out of money.

    on top of that, this isn't unique. Many of us do this sort of thing for real. I do christmas rather than halloween and I'm only one of at least 20 people I know of that do it in my area, considering I haven't actively looked for people doing it, just stumbled across them, I suspect there are many many many more. Of course, I live just outside RTP, NC, so we have a rather large collection of geeks ... this is common here, mine is disappointing compared to others I've seen in the area.

    You do know that you can dispute anything on your credit history at which point it becomes the problem of those who put it there to demonstrate that it was actually you.

    You do know that isn't actually the way it works, right?

    You dispute. They say 'no, its valid' and thats the end. You have no recourse to force them to fix it. This is a well known issue to the point there 60 minutes and every other major investigative news organization has run stories showing just how they respond and do nothing even if you have proof.

    You life in some fantasy world other than Earth.

    There weather isn't better than Florida. Their women as fake whores with attitudes far out weighing their looks, and the weed isn't legal for recreational use. Its just as dangerous to smoke a bowl in CA as it is in Florida.

    On the other hand, CA is full of nut job liberals who think they can lower taxes on themselves, while increasing government programs and free rides, and then can't understand why their government is bankrupt. Instead of expecting people to take care of themselves, they invent social programs to take care of people who could take care of themselves, and then make any woman who doesn't breast feed her child until the age of 12 feel like she's a horrible mom.

    All in all, there are about 40 states I'd rather live in other than California. I guess it does beat out the Dakotas and Iowa, but that doesn't say very much, does it?

    California is really a pretty shitty place to live if you actually pull your head out of your ass long enough to think about it.
