Without continuing education their board certification will be revoked and they will no longer be licensed to practice on anything living. So while the undergrad degree may go away, its rather worthless in general when you tell someone you used to be a doctor but you didn't bother keeping up with modern medicine so you can't do anything anymore.

I've got a 3800 that handles 4 incoming tv streams at a time, in HD, streams to two televisions at a time, and re-encodes for my iphone. The heaviest part is re-encoding, everything else is done in silicon elsewhere, incoming streams are already mpeg or the card encodes analog streams to mpeg so thats just disk IO, streaming TV or displaying it doesn't require much, its just disk IO again as the video card does the decoding...
Media center PCs just aren't processor intensive devices.
If by 'getting around' you mean using the original method of developing apps for the iPhone, before there was an SDK, and which has never had any restrictions at all... then sure, they got around it...

Most people treat what they call science as a religion. They go wild that someone reads a book and believes the far fetched ideas in it, yet they have no problem reading something off wikipedia and assuming its fact.
The claim is that you CAN test and confirm it, but they don't, they just blindly assume because someone else wrote it down and some others agree with them.
