First off, I'm not normally one to defend MS.....
The only difference between what Microsoft did with TCP/IP and ftp is really not any different than what Red Hat or any other commercial Linux distro does with any of their programs. Sure, they don't provide access to the source, but they're not required to under the BSD license.
True, True. The other few articles I can find seem to indicate that the SMP support is "decent". As for what that means, I'm not sure. Is this good 4-way, 8-way? 128-way? Won't really know until it gets out there and tried I guess.
The addition of a native threads implementation for all platforms and symmetrical multiprocessing (SMP) on i386 and other popular platforms were long-standing goals for NetBSD 2.0. Both of these goals have now been met--SMP support has been added for i386, SPARC, and PowerPC, and the SMP support on Alpha and VAX has been improved.
I've taken a look at the pgaccess website. Seems like it's mainly for db admin? Does it do much in the way of input forms/reports?

Doesn't matter if it's on contract or "free". It's still a very small margin for the manufacturer (Sony/Ericsson, Nokie, etc). Your local provider is still paying the manufacturer regardless if it's a "free giveaway" or a non-contract purchase.
Maybe just web forms might work? Not sure reports will go, but works great for data entry. PHP seems to play nice for postgres, although I don't have any personal exp with this.
Ok, so I actually like my ISP's setup.
They require a username/password combo to send any emails through their SMTP server, and include the sender's username in the header info. Makes it really easy to track down who is doing the spamming.
Disclaimer: I also work for them, so it makes my job as a first-line phone jockey easy to track down internal spammers.
Seems to have worked for me. The only email address used for/., LJ, and any online signups is thisismyspamdump@. I've never had a spam on this address, mind you, it's only been 6 months:)

RTFA?
Sounds like the Lotus Notes server at work. And I thought Outlook was bad...
802.11g supports bandwidth up to 54 Mbps. Faster than any residential broadband connection I've ever seen :)
Not really. I think what he meant was that you're not restricted to IE anymore.
FYI: for b), it's the binary nvidia drivers from nvidia that do not work. the default "nv" drivers work fine, but with no 3D support (AFAIK).
Not exactly. If I leave my front door unlocked, and someone comes in and takes all my stuff, it's still break and enter/theft.
Good point. Although you'd think it would just be easier to use "standardized" RAM, and probably cheaper.
Isn't 64MB around the smallest easitly-available RAM chip these days? I rarely see anything less than 128 MB for sale these days.
I got mine from bittorrent, not a box, you insensitive clod :)
Net Install CD for Sarge is 110MB.
Try pico or nano, both available from the command line. I use pico personally. A lot less cryptic than vi, vim or emacs.
Beats the hell outta me. 'm just hoping the meta-mods have fun with this one :)
... and taxis. That and the (pizza) delivery guys are the really practical, everyday applications.
If it's released GPL'ed, they can't restrict access to it, can they?
Not only that, but to do any real damage they'd most likely have to be logged in as root.
I agree. This makes perfect sense as part of a sentence for a DUI offence after your licence suspension is over.
For the rest of us, this would be just a big pain in the ass.

So, pretty much a Recycle Bin(TM)??
Yeah, and all the pics are in black and white. What does this prove??
