The Dark Side always wishes to suppress freedom.
Strategy we must use. United we stand, divided we fall. We must divide the forces of the Dark Side as much as possible...the more fragmentation to divide their attention/resources, the better.
When one considers the torrential output of research of the universities of the world, this contrasts sharply with the "output" of the likes of Bill Gates, and the other few fools who have expert marketers (with MBAs, probably) to extort hundreds of dollars for a couple of dollar CDs, and a few pounds of dead tree material. College educated people are producing more, inventing more, researching more, etc. than Gates or Jobs or any other few idiots you care to mention. Gates infected the world with the Windows virus, to the great chagrine of those who can operate a real OS, and Jobs? Imacs? Need one say more?
Gates and Jobs get publicity simply for the fact that they have been lucky enough to obtain vast sums of money...nothing more. They have done little for the benefit of mankind, (and in fact, I would argue that they have been detrimental, depriving potential Einsteins from computer access due to cost, lack of stability, etc.) and only when pushed/prodded do they attempt to improve their image with tax writeoff foundations, etc., after having plundered the taxpayers through government contracts, license fees from schools, hospitals, etc. I much, much prefer the college educated RMS, Torvalds, Tim Berners-Lee, etc., etc., etc., to any spoiled kid, rich dropout fool who is simply famous because they have managed to con millions of lemming JoeSixPacks to buy a WalMart special with Windoze included (by threat/extortion, etc. of the OEMs, etc.)
In other words, get a college education if you can.:-) but by all means contribute to society whether you have a college education or not.

Well, you may not be new here, but I can assure you that I am surrounded by M$ fanatics, who waste millions of (tax) dollars buying M$ crap for public education, when there are far better OSS solutions available. I deal with constant subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) pressure to give up linux and join the Dark Side;-) at work. Of course, I smile as they spend their lunch hour dealing with M$ network and OS problems, while I actually eat lunch!:-) They refuse to even step inside my lab and look at linux...so I guess, in addition to being closed source fanatics, they are close minded fools as well!:-)
Of course, as many governments around the world are now beginning to understand, closed source has to be the biggest security threat going...why anyone would continue to use ANY closed source products are beyond me. Open source is, by its very nature, the most secure software you can use, because YOU have the source, and can ensure that the software is secure, if you have the need, time and resources to do that.
The OSC should be trumpeting as loud as it can, that open source is, has been, and always will be, more secure than ANY closed source software.

It took several tens of thousands of years for people to reach six billion. It has taken considerably shorter time for the internet to reach 6 billion items...and consider that just as war, disease, etc. has eliminated many people, many pages have been deleted, taken off line, etc. I think the number of internet items is going to rapidly outpace human population growth...millions of people making millions of web pages, etc. each day...I just wonder if google et al. will be able to keep up. We are going to be deluged with more and more results in the future, far beyond world population numbers...

I picked up a couple of boxed copies of Caldera Linux at a flea market for about $10 (yes, yes, I know, I paid too much...:-)). However, what I'm wondering now is since I haven't used them, can I return them to SCO for a refund of $699 each?
Or should I hang onto them for future antique value, once SCO has disappeared?:-)

One must discriminate against the Dark Side, or Evil, whenever and wherever it occurs. Would you not discriminate against the use of an OS for promoting a holocaust, for example? or to provoke a nuclear war? or any of unlimited numbers of other evils? I understand your point, however, SCO customers are free to choose between continuing to use an obsolete, poorly functioning OS, such as SCO's offering, or they may discriminate and choose to upgrade to a modern, up-to-date, well functioning OS, such as Linux:-). SCO customers are free to discriminate and choose an OS which meets their needs. If SCO offerings no longer meet those needs, due to changes in software, they are free to choose something that does;-).
In fact, I would favour changing point 5 and six to say something more along the lines of:
No discrimination against people or groups not involved in Evil
No discrimination against fields of endeavour that are not Evil
Easier said than done, of course, because now one is left with defining just what is "Evil"...sigh:-)

This should be a warning to innocent SCO customers that, just as MS stops supporting obsolete OSes, GCC will stop supporting an obsolete SCO OS. Straightforward this is!
I applaud the switch of all innocent SCO customers from an obsolete OS to an up-to-date Linux upgrade.
