I could easily do this from home, in fact I would be significantly MORE productive if allowed to because of the lack of interruptions, and generaly much better environnment (especially lighting, I HATE strip-lighting).
Unfortuntely every company I have ever worked for is so stuck in the traditional mindset that they would rather pay extra to provide heated, lit, creativity-sapping little cubes that I have to drive to through terrible traffic at precisely rush-hour every day, in order to keep me working less productively.
One day some big company will finally realise and act on this stupidity, and other companies will be forced to evolve in order to remain competitive and not look outdated. I can't wait.

I Agree that the conditions that livestock for food are kept in are generally bad, however that is not justfication to go and kill other animals for 'fun'.
You can't justify your own cruelty by saying that someone else has done worse. Its like Saddam excusing himself because Hitler killed more people.
To take your own argument: The third and most humane scenario you convenently forgot to mention is: 3) Allowing an animal to run free in the wild, doing whatever it is that wild animals do and NOT hurting them AT ALL.
You can't get to every page on the internet just by starting at one page and recursively following links, therefore the more places you from, the more likely you are to have 100% coverage.
I could imagine that Microsoft just needs a few thousand URL's evenly-spread across the internet just to seed their crawler, which they can get from Google by using a list of most popular queries.
Once their crawler has so many starting points it can do the rest itself.
>> no support for the OS that's in 99% of media PCs..it doesn't work for your image.
But those media PC's are functionally crippled when compared to MythTV. If you want the most functionality, then go Linux.
Therefore I don't give a toss about Microsoft support, because I wouldn't use it even if it had.
I find it refreshing that they've turned their back on M$ as it means that the developers won't compromise their time and design by making a card that has to also be also windows compatable.
Apart from all the M$ bullshit logo/certification crap, they won't waste man-years of effort learning how to beat the utter shit that is the Microsoft Windows Driver Model just to get a basic working driver.
I write software for a living.

killing for food is one thing.
Actually deriving pleasure from killing is another.
What kind of heartless moron can derive pleasure from inflicting pain and death on wild animals, then have the nerve to call it a sport?
They must be the most evil kind of dumbasses.
But I'd pay to shoot those fuckers on line. Now THATS a sport. Giving them some of their own medicine and seeing how they like it.
What kind of moron gets pleasure from the suffering and death of animals?
Thats just sick...
Why doesn't AOL just use Firefox?
how good the 6600 AGP is, even pretty close to the 6800.
I wonder how long away nVidia's next GPU is?
Dude, don't you even read up before you buy PC hardware?
but do you think he's made any serious money back from donations?
Are you kidding me? Microsoft is on the INSIDE.
Bill Gates's approach is all about total control and limiting the user.
Microsoft HATE users rights, in fact they are fighting all the ways that users can legitimately get more power/freedom/rights somehow/somewhere else.
Thats why MS is fighting Open Source and Linux so hard, because it gives more power and control to the user than Microsoft does.
Why would I want to have to carry a piece of plastic around just so I can log into my PC?
Also what about the increased security risk because now you have something someone can steal an use?
Passwords are more convenient and more secure because no one can see or steal whats in my head (I hope!).
Microsoft..Make it better?... Ha! ROFL
Once again Microsoft is just ripping-off someone elses product or idea and just remarketing it.
.net etc.
Its just the next in a long line of products they've just stolen, including Windows, Office, IE, C#,
Why don't they actually INNOVATE and create something from a new idea for once?
what will we see next? A trading website called mbay.com?
to respond to my own post...
If "Schindlers List" was the in-flight movie, you wouldn't even get to the end of it before you'd gone right round the planet.
to think that mach 10 = this thing can go round the earth in 3.5 hours.
ewwww..... you're using windows?
and spyware?...

I find nearly all pages render better in Firefox than IE. Especially with adblock installed :-)
no sympathy for this loser.
By staying in such shit conditions he's just sending the message to EA that its OK for big companies to treat employees this way.
That encouragement only makes it worse for the rest of us.
Chip, $200-$250 ?
Video, $200-$250 ?
Double each of those or even your new PC will be ghetto the day you buy it.
the newest games don't run well.
I bet some of the Echelon stuff makes these babies look like .. well.. babies.
>It would be nice if they supported open source.
What do you think Linux is, dork?
>> mean really, linux support is great,
..it doesn't work for your image.
yes it is.

...so you can use MythTV to timeskip all the crap.
