    I'm concerned that this may give windows users an unrealitically bad view of OSS apps because the relibility of those apps may go downhill if they are ported to windows.

    It also wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft puts stuff in windows that intentionally breaks when Openoffice or similar is run.

    It wouldn't be the first time that Microsoft intentionally crippled windows under certain circumstances.. some years ago it was discovered that they added wait states to make windows run slower only on AMD processors. Also, current versions of windows won't run the original compiled version of decss.

    Microsoft perfer hiring new grads with no real world experience because they can get away with paying them shit and they work long hours. (a.k.a. 'the EA mentality' ).

    Thats one of the reasons why Windows (still) sucks and is (still) full of security holes.

    Could b a useful technique for robot vision perhaps? It may improve edge detection for that too and reduce the CPU cycle count necessary to calculate 3D spatial representation.

    At last, there's finally some technical justification for the sequential flashing lights on the hood of Knight Rider's car. It must have been part of Kit's vision system.

    What advice would you give her and does she honestly stand a reasonable chance?

    It seems to me that to make it big in Hollywood, you have to be groomed from birth, be in the right family and/or have all the right connections made...

    It probably means that, for wahtever reason, the movie industry have once again chosen the format with the weakest content protection.

    This is good news for us because it means that the chances of a free Linux HD-DVD player are pretty high.

    Oh man, I symapthise. Has anyone figured out why some games cause that and some dont?

    I play UT frequently and for long periods with never a problem, but I struggled through Max Payne with my teeth gritted, because of the motion/nausea effect. The original Doom was the worst I've ever experienced though.

    It seems to help some if I turn head/weapon-bob off, but I've never really figured out what makes some FPS games cause headaches/nausea and not others. Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions?

    My guess is that India is spending large amounts of money to improve the perceived image of the country and get one-up on another country.

    This was exactly the same reason for JFK's space program in the 60's.

    It's my guess Pakistan will proably announce the same thing soon, too. ...except the big difference between the original US space program and the Indian one is that India aren't breaking new ground. I can't imagine that any really new science or technology will come from this, so it just becomes an ludicrously expensive PR exercise/publicity stunt.

    Unfortunately even that will backfire when the western newspapers carry a human-interest photo of some cute but dirty/starving Indian kids siting on a refuse pile while India's rocket takes off in the background.

    The speed/performance of games under Linux/Cedega sucks compared to running a native Linux or Windows version.

    Why didn't Valve just write portable code in the first place? They could/should have used OpenGL instead of DirectX.

    Its because nearly all of the Bush family's personal wealth and political election fund money comes directly from the oil industry.

    The only green issue he cares about is the colour of money. He's just helping his mega-rich oil baron friends get even richer at the cost of the environment.
