  2. Why do UI guru's have absolutely no design sense? on Top Ten Persistent Design Flaws · · Score: 1

Hideous overuse of drop shadow. Default blue links used both inline and in the nav... I find it very hard to take these sites seriously. Learn just a little about what it takes to give a site some kind of look and feel. No matter how well thought out the UI is if no thought or skill is put into color and formating than it equates to a poor user experience. I get lost when I look at pages with nothing but heavy drop shadow and standard blue links everywhere. What a joke...

Bionicles are actually very cool. its all the movie tie ins and theme'd legos that took the magic out of it.

  4. Re:Lego is no longer about imagination... on Inside the Lego Master Builder Search · · Score: 1

Try target bro. Tons of basic kits. Your wrong about the pieces not fitting together. My son loves the Star Wars kits. When he is done putting the kit together he mixes and matches them with my 33 year old legos without a hitch.

  5. Re:Standard batteries = better on Washington Post Covers iPod Battery Ruckus · · Score: 1

KIA only seems like an off brand-cheapo car but that's good old TV commercial, sports mag. etc... brainwashing at work. Your fed endless rhetoric from the auto companies. KIA actually works pretty hard at making quality vehicles. The Sorento has a lot of the same parts the its Lexus SUV counterpart does. Mercedes are hardly bomb proof and cost HUGE dollars for minor repairs. Sure you look like the shiznit driving it, well not where I live there are way too many to stand out, but you paying for every mile. On the other hand there is the ipod and then there is crap.

  6. Re:Standard batteries = better on Washington Post Covers iPod Battery Ruckus · · Score: 1

  8. Re:Detritus from the .com bust nope on More Than 500,000 High Tech Jobs Lost in 2002 · · Score: 1

Sure a certain amount of jobs that were lost were not needed. Companies are also not spending money on things that they actually need. I.E. I just developed online training for a major software company. It took a year. They loved it. They want lots more of it. Their budget shrank and poof they were not able to retain me. They still desperately need the training and I need the work. Its very narrow minded to think that all spending that is not taking place is because it was not needed.

  12. Re:Economy 101: Where're the profits? on MTV Getting into Music Download Business · · Score: 0

MTV certainly knows that profitability on such a venture is sketchy at best. MTV is guarding their image as the worlds music leading news/info center much like ESPN is for sports. They dont want to look like they are behind the times or not hip to this new way of getting and listening to music. I dont think direct profit from an online music store is what they care about. Why they dont just hook into the itunes store like AOL I dont know. They could retain their hip persona and avoid dumping millions into the infrastructure of such venture.

  13. The future of music on MTV Getting into Music Download Business · · Score: 2, Insightful

I think that "stealing" mp3's was ultimately a situation that needed to change. But, it loosened up the whole industry and got people listening to all kinds of music that they wouldn't have otherwise. Music became interesting again because it seemed to be back in the peoples hands and out of Casey Cassim and Dick Clarks hands. It got people interested in music again. It was culturally a great thing. Suddenly every DVD and CD player was wired for MP3's. This happened well before there was a "legal" way of getting MP3's. Besides making your own which just seemed stupid if you already have the CD. I think the future of music is going to suck. Slowly but surely all the new channels of distribution are going to be controlled by money hungry execs. Its already the case. Within a few years the RIAA will have an online music store too.

  14. "the Mac OS are not supported at this time." on New Napster Off To A Solid Start · · Score: 0

  15. Re:All I hear is whining... on Panther Problem Roundup · · Score: 0

Right and thats where it becomes labor intensive. I have been using OS X since the early days and being a Graphic Artist I have a ridiculous amount graphics apps and utilities. This maybe a good opportunity to clean house a little too though. I probably wont be getting Panther for another few weeks, at that point I will be forced to do the right thing! : )

  16. Re:All I hear is whining... on Panther Problem Roundup · · Score: 0

ahhh you discovered my soft spot, my storage is sub par. Not what it should be considering how many files I generate in a day. Damn this economy!! I have a 30 gig external USB drive but its half full right now. I back up to DVD for my work pretty religiously so I am not worried about that. Did simply dragging the apps off and back on work in all cases? Seems like some apps would loose their connection to their system files.

I was amazed when X first came out that it ran on my Beige G3 and not half bad. The fact that it doesn't run 10.3 seems normal. How much effort do you want Apple to put into continuing to support these older machines?! It would kill the innovation that we all enjoy. Its not like they are discontinuing support for last years Macs! Computers age quickly its a part of the exciting world of technology.

  20. good go use Winamp on Microsoft Dismisses Apple's iTunes for Windows · · Score: 0

Why do I care so little about whether PC users like itunes? They think they need more choices because you have to have 8 pieces of software on a PC to get the same job done that itunes does by itself. WACKY! Of course Microsoft doesn't like itunes. They don't understand any piece of software that puts power into the users hands and that doesn't launch a slew of "wizards" to help you understand the messy software.

  21. A real comparison on PC World: Apple G5 Gets Trounced By Athlon 64 · · Score: 0

would be to put two video/graphics power users in the same room one on a AMD/PC and one on a G5 and monitor their vital signs and brain waves. Give them a creative task and a timeframe for completion. Something real world like that. It could even turn into a Reality TV show!

  22. isnt this exciting! on PC World: Apple G5 Gets Trounced By Athlon 64 · · Score: 0

AMD and Intel are looking over their shoulders. In reality with OS X thrown in they should be looking forward at the leader, Apple. The fact that these kinds of tests, skewed or not, are being run and looked at says a lot for the G5. How far have we come in a year!

Thats cause they know that if you hear one song off of St Anger you certainly wont buy the album. Ironically Metallica started as a garage band in SF. They got popular and recognized from people trading and circulating their tapes. As soon as they put out a hit. "Exit Light" or whatever it was called they started producing pabulum. Lots and lots of it. Then they started making money off the albums they made when they were poor and driven by creativity and music. Then they attacked their fans for downloading and sharing their now "valuable" music. They looked like idiots so the put out a "Garage" sounding album that is just recycled dirty motor oil. Pathetic!
