hotmail.com should never receive a REFERER header of goatse.cx, because (to my knowledge... haven't actually been there recently) goatse.cx doesn't link to hotmail. the referer header isn't sent out when you type in the address bar. is it really so unreasonable for server admins to know about what terms search engines index them under, and what websites link to them? nothing to do with the user.
and, why not just turn it off in your browser anyway?
This fails to justify the other things limited to pro which don't cost nullsoft anything (burning cds and/or ripping to wav "faster" than the free version... i would be very surprised if this is anything more than an arbitrary choke on the speed in the free one)
This is less about big business (which, frankly, profits when their drugs are bought legally with a prescription, or illegally via an online pharmacy with no prescription) and more about complying with existing laws.
Except they don't profit, because, due to either economic conditions or legal price ceilings in other countries, they're sold for much less... this is subsidized by inflated US prices.
It may be more accurate to say that the probablility of a reversal in any given year is increasing, rather than saying we are "overdue". Or maybe that is just splitting hairs.
I don't see the difference between the two phrasings, personally... that's what "overdue" means to me when referring to a natural event. the statement that just because it's rare means it's unlikely implies that there's a fixed probability of it happening on any given day.
"The chances are it will not," Bloxham said. "Reversals are a rare event."'" but overdue. these aren't governed by random chance like gambling; there _is_ a cycle
i think GGGPP was referring to that the installer is "important" because some of the developers find it to be a more interesting problem than "make it run faster"
You're backpedaling... you said before that if he reduces the value of something you had to $0, that's stealing. if he sells widgets for $1 and you can't keep up with that competition, the value of your widgets, since you can't sell them effectively, is $0 for you.
no... what he was saying was just that there's no central authority deciding who works on what - whether something's "more important" is irrelevant to how many people are working on it.
parent poster was "correct" (assuming, and it's a big assumption, that all premises were correct and that the NHS is as bad as claimed... i know nothing) in holding up the NHS as an example of how bad socialized medicine can get... he did not say all socialized medicine was that bad
if it's not illegal to refuse such returns, then why do software places/companies give you the runaround (M$ claims it's the store's responsibility, store claims only M$ can do the refund, etc) instead of simply flat-out saying "no returns"? i guess my perception was distorted by their lack of honesty.
that's napster... the so-called "supernodes" in kazaa are normal computers running the client on a fast processor/connection, which switches it to a different mode.
it doesn't matter if the artist doesn't want it. you have the RIGHT to be an informed consumer. this is just a way to get around stores that ILLEGALLY refuse returns on opened merchandise... except, it makes no sense, since most stores have a thing with headphones, etc, you can listen to in the store.
just because it sounds noisy _on the line over which it is intended to be transmitted_ doesn't mean it interferes with anyone else's. do you hear it when someone else sends or receives an aim message?
the practice of leaving it the same developed in the face of a real need (non-threading usenet readers and slow discussions), perpetuated due to cluelessness (the same kind of people who hit "reply all" to a mass-forwarded email), and now, full circle, the reverse is considered clueless. yes, it does show that he just discovered the internet, and thus hasn't had time to learn all the pointless anachronistic traditional rituals (like, say, leaving the topic the same on a reply) associated with it. slashdot keeps track of threads _for_ you. you don't need to look at it and mentally say "all the messages with _this_ topic are in _that_ thread, and the other ones over here are..."
Otherwise the public will think rebooting your computer three times a day is normal and acceptable.
rebooting the computer three times a day _is_ normal, on the OS that's run by the majority of "the public"... and, by and large, they _do_ accept it...
About that form... where can i find it? if it's something you just use for yourself you should do the work i was going to do on an improved version on your own: make it use html
elements instead of ascii checkboxes

Which is cheaper?
Paying taxes so the single mom is able to feed her kid, or paying taxes to arrest, try, sentence, and punish the same mom who started prostituting herself to do the same.. and now having the state take on her child as a ward as well?
if you ask this question this way, you don't understand libertarianism
so-called "datanoise" (well, it's not actually 'so-called', since i just made that up) isn't actually noise. just because you can't understand it doesn't mean there's no structure. just because something "sounds like noise" doesn't mean it "is interference"
why? what's wrong with having a separate dedicated web-server? or are you saying that the web == the internet and therefore "www" should be optional

First, the MPAA doesnt mandate that you are required to get popcorn.
shh! don't give them any ideas!
At the same time in places like Movies, Hospitals, Library's, Elevators...
Don't you mean Movie's, Hospital's, Library's, and Elevator's?

that doesn't mean people don't have the right to complain about it
