    That's the whole point. You install binary crap from a provider you don't trust. So, don't complain.

    It's not like at this day and age there's still a gun pointed to you to use Windows (in the past i may recognize there were, but not today)

    Yesterday i was downloading the torrent make_all_your_hardware_drivers_work_in_linux.txt.gz.torrent

    and after unpacking and following the instructions, most of the commands that were supposed to enable my sound blaster live card actually made me create a user, write something that looked like a irc server in C, compile it and put in init.d

    I never understood why. but now my sound card works.

    I  learned how to create a lock pick from scrap and use it to open a room where my parents left the video game when they left for work and i was supposed to be doing something else.... I was 8.

    At the same time of the events you mention, Arabs were showering daily and doing other things for their health out of knowledge. not because someone choose to concentrate power and scary the rest out.

    from grandtech site i assume they just sell rebranded chinese stuff. you could probably get a "cheap foldable keyboard" instead of the "virtually indestructible expensive keyboard"

    The same with the SSL fiasco recently. I bet my right arm that key people there are getting paid off the record for those changes.

    Why would a open source app make it such a hassle to accept self signed certs?

    google never opened nothing and never will.

    search api? good luck finding usefull places using it with the daily limits they impose. all they do is open up spots on their apps so you could run some widgets.

    microsoft came from a time when everyone was locked in IBM mainframes. they were the salviours because they let you use personal computers. now that's freedom! personal computers!

    now, everyone is locked in microsoft applications. and google came to the rescue. you can run a widget inside their email and callendar app. now that's freedom!

    And what about the little code they open source? that java framework to spit out unreadable javascript... geez. I'm on YUI side on this one.

    i can open any office doc and see flash videos. not to mention code and compile my programs.

    why would you want windows if the vendor is finally taking the trouble of making linux work on the hardware for you?

    because of noise.

    some months ago I got 2 sata 400gb and put them in mirrored raid. now my pc is useless to watch movies at night in my small room...

    today i got me burning a dvd to watch some crap on the living room. so, while the dvd burned i just ordered the cheapest SSD i could find that can handle a ubuntu install, and a sata board. I'm moving the 400gb HDs to the server far away and putting the SSD on the desktop.

    hell i'm telling anecdotes here instead of trolling... need to review life.
