    IMHUnderstanding, there is only one argument against health "reform"->get the government out of business. That being said, the arguments against a government run, and required heath care systems are many:
    * Bigger government
    * Costly (when the USA is in debt to a country it doesn't really like but is now forced to)
    * Propaganda that it would be unfairly subsidized and kill private insurance
    * Forcing young (lest costly) citizens to pay for the older (more costly citizens)
    * Yet.Another Wealth redistribution system when we already have an income tax/medic aid/s.s.
    * Propaganda the the government would be 'between you and your doctor'
    * If it costs more to give heathcare to unhealthy people, and they can't be turned down for heathcare by law, but it is their fault. Now we have a couple possible scenarious that some don't like --
    (1) You are forced to pay into a system that cannot charge more than 2x the minimum rate for someone that has gotten sick by their own choices (fat smoking paint sniffer),
    (2) the government is going to start regulating snack foods because it costs the heath care system money. -- why should inshape people pay a 'fat tax' on snack food just because somepeople don't understand moderation?

    Even so, Realistically none of this matters. Because detector for things like this can be placed orthogonal to the direction of motion so that the doppler effect is non-existent.

    Thank your pointing out some of the flaws in my [overly simplistic] model. I do think having the host as the primary seeder in release cases would be a smart thing to do, and then switch over to host only when the 'swarm' drops below a certain threshold.

    The point was that even if the up data-rate of the host is 100 X that of the clients, for a sufficiently large user base, torrents is a time efficient and system + the idea that it cost the cost .00X$ per download, and as you are getting it for free, you can help lower that cost by downloading it once, and passing on a copy or two before you stop seeding.

    I understand that my model wasn't perfect, but it wasn't horrible. Consider that I also didn't take into account the time delay of having hosts go down because of unanticipated high demand (this happens).

    HAHAHA, I'm hoping not. The Doppler shift is a function of proportional velocity, that is, it isn't until you are moving at a fraction of the speed of LIGHT are EM waves effected. A conservative estimate puts that at about c/1.003/1000 = 186 miles per second.

    So when you have a car that goes that fast [at or away from your receiver/transmitter], your EM frequencies might get noticeably shifted, but on this planet, you'ld also probably be on fire.

    Efficient in what sense? Certainly not time in release cases. If host A has a 100MB file and a 10MB/s connection, the most that host can upload that file at is 6/min. At 10,000 users this takes about 28 hours.
    If the first torrent uploads to 2 people, and those two people to two more...etc it will quickly (4 hours) beat the single host case even if every pipe after the first is 1/100th the speed.
