It's a little strong, but it does fall into the definition. The use of force (taking down servers) by a group (spammers) against people/property (blue & others) with the intention of intimidating socieities (blues users) for ideological (financial too) reasons.
The use of force (fist in stomach) by a group (school bullies) against people (me, for example) with the intention of intimidating societies (nerds) for ideological (nerds suck) reasons.

Falls into the definition, too, eh?

I used to get between 50 and 70 UCEs a day on my main mail account in 2004 -- meager in comprison to others, I know, but still annyoing. Then suddenly on December the 6th this dropped to 10-15 UCEs a day and stayed there up to now. A drop to ~20% of the original frequency can't be explained with noise, so there's definitely something rotten in the state of Spam.

    Anyone else experienced likewise?

This seems to be the right time to link to The Awful German Language by Mark Twain (no copyright issues here, it's public).

Very interesting read, especially in the context of this thread where many slashdotters said they learned English grammar in German classes.

Twain, on the other hand, obviously had a hard time with German, but nevertheless learned it.

According to a post in this discussion ~500 Russians on a train ride were killed by the explosion. The poster is not sure if this is the same event as the one mentioned in the article. If that actually is the case, once again innocent people had to die because the spooks played their silly little games.
It's not them who got what they deserved. It's always the others.

Most so called "personal firewalls" prevent file spoofing by having an internal list of md5 hashes of the applications. The identification of a process with a rule comes thru comparing file name, path and hash/checksum. Quite failsafe, I think.

    From the article:
The receiving system would check the Internet's Domain Name System for the public key registered to the sending domain.
This could be done with adding the public key to the DNS text record (afaik), but then what about those IPs without DNS entries? Did I misunderstand something?
  11. PGP minus usability? on Yahoo! Develops Anti-Spam Architecture · · Score: 1
Based on the information in the article this seems to be some kind of digital signature (like PGP sigs) but based on IP/domains. So everyone who wants to send an email must
    • Generate a keypair.
    • Upload the public key to some server (Operated by whom? It'll cost much bandwidth to operate such a server, and I guess the owner could be held responsible if keys are compromised (=stolen)). That's risky.
    • Bind the public key to one or more IPs and one or more email adresses that'll be allowed to send.
So this will cause a hassle for those on dynamic IPs (like me) and in it's core it is mere PGP signatures additionally bound to IPs. So why not force everybody to use PGP in the first place?
