Do any of you schmucks even realise that Arthur C. Clarke, NOT STANLEY KUBRICK wrote the flippin' book the movie is based on??? so the question is whether or not A.C.C knew about the bricks. Now go read 2001, 2010, 2061, and 3001 The final Odyssey. Phear my super sci-fi knowledge!!!!!!!!
I would like to nominate the great ops in #linuxwarez af EFnet fame. These folks are always friendly and helpful. Amongst the helpfull hints and tips they throw your way, the also have one hell of an info bot: Amok. Just join the channel and "/msg amok ?? keyword" to find out about something. Yes, I know quite a few of you will be taken aback by the channel's title. Yes, SOME trading goes on in the background, but hey, such is the info highway. Otherwise, the channel is not a "warez" channel persay but a linux software discussion channel. My $.02 Nathan R. Ben-Attar "First things first -- but not necessarily in that order"
It's great to see that you are releasing these componants. I own UT and only use linux so it was a dissapointment not to be able to hear music or keep the game running longer than say 5 or 10 minutes. I am very impressed with the engine, but the audio and stability of the game need a lot of work. Hopefully other companies with interest in entering the linux community will be willing to open source the less stable componants of their games in much the same way as you are doing. This will prevent half assed products from entering the market as "linux compatible". Again I commend you on your decision and thank you for the great product.. Even if you did do a half-ass job porting it (j/k I think you did a hell of a job... just wish it wouldn't crashout and fuck up my X, console, and glide) Nathan R. I went with the family to two shows this Christmas. Galaxy Quest and Bicentenial Man. Of the two, the one I found worth my $8 for a ticket was Galaxy Quest. I just could not stop laughing. It makes me wonder what any other civilizations might take our forms of entertainment as... pr0n:o-)

I picked up the linux version yesterday from a local EB. The box contained a manual and the CD (NO advertisements, registration cards, or crap mail-in-for-free-upgrade coupons; way to go loki/id) The CD has the linux binaries and a setup shell script in the main directory... let me make things easier... here's the contents of the linux cd (and yes that is a Win32 direectory with an autorun.exe and an autorun.ini in the main dir, but apparrently no win32 bins???):
There's an EB in the lower level of Coronado Center and the one at cottonwood. The one at CottonWood told me they only recieved one linux version not 20 (Over the phone) maybe they got a second shipment in later in the day?
But Man was I surprised! Apparently, Electronics Boutique only shipped one copy per store! Here in Albuquerque, NM there are only two EB locations and they were the only stores in town to get a copy. Each store recieved only ONE box! Oh well, at least I got mine. To all the other geeks in town, I'm sorry guys... I needed my fix, guess you'll have to order yours online.
I hapen to have "Battle for Endore" and "Ewok Adventure" amongst the gems in my video collectiong. Also a copy of Ep1 on VHS widescreen with thai subtitles... wonder how that got in there:o-)
I urge EVRY SINGLE Slashdot reader to put a link to http://mitpress.mit.edu/e-journals/Leonardo/ on their websites as well as to use the word leonardo in as many ways as possible! Lets stage the first ever Cyber Sit-IN and screw the french dogs... Les chers stupid!
OK I'm wondering, I attend New Mexico Tech, and to be brutally honest, our campus radio station has one of the shittiest selections of music in the world. I was thinking, since mostly everyone on campus who listens also has a connectin to the LAN, I'd like to start an MP3 streaming radio station which could cycle through a playlist which I could easily have created and updated in realtime through user selection on my webpage on my box. I would also like the ability to breakin and make comments via the mic in on my soundcard not necessarily during songplay, but maybe between songs bandwidth doesn't matter as listeners would only be on campus on the LAN, but I would like less cpu usage or a program which would take advantage of my second processor so as not to slow down my GIMP/XMAMEing. What server/clients/etc exist which might meet my needs, or could be easily modified to do so?
