Before coming to your conclusion that they are not suited for highway driving?
I drive a '04 Prius, have it since Jan, line in SF Bay Area, CA, drive it on freeway (101, 880, 280, 680 and even 87) everyday.
I even took it from San Jose, CA to LA, CA, via 101, 152, and I-5, which goes through 2 fairly steep passes and the speed limit on I-5 is 70mpg. I had absolutly NO problem driving either way.
What you call running the engine "fairly hard" is actually running it at "optimum RPM", since any engine runs best within a range and this is the range within which the engine on a hybrid runs most of the time, as compared to an ordinary car wherein the engine RPM varies all over the place.
So, test drive one before you give your opinion based on imaginary and baseless perceptions.
I got a '04 Prius in January, my starting mileage was 48.5, but since then have always got MORE than 50 and my last tank mileage was 52.4 and this tank will be more. So, as my car breaks in the mileage is increasing. And, this is when I don't baby-drive my car, if I did that I would be getting waaay more.
However, I live in the SF Bay Area,CA where the temperatures are normally moderate, one thing that is experienced by all is that as the temperature drops, so does the mileage, so that is something to consider, however, again I do get more then 50mpg and and approaching 55mpg slowly which is EXACTLY what EPA numbers show.
Try Kingfisher, in US its not technically an Indian beer as the one that you normally get in the US is brewed in UK (see, India outsourced beer brewing to UK:o)), however its an Indian beer in the sense that that brand and the brewing company is Indian and its brewed in India for the Indian market under the same brand name.
Most Indian beers are pale ale's, pilsners or lagers. You will not find any dark beers in India (by that I mean dark beers brewed in India).
Although not available here in the US, but some of the so called "strong" beers in India have an alcohol content as high as 14%.

First of all, WHO needs choice and WHEN do you need choice?
Lets look at the "when" first, you need choice when either you are installing the OS, or are installing an application which serves a purpose for the first time (consideiring you don't already have an app to serve that purpose yet). In most of the cases if you have an app which serves a purpose most people are happy with it, until an unless they find another which does the thing better. No one needs 5 apps to do the same thing to begin with. Does anyone here really think, that well I need an app to play mp3 files, let me install those 5 applications that are available and then I will use them all one by one. No, you look at the reviews, etc. and then pick the app which you like, if it serves your purpose, great, else you find another and maybe even remove the first one.
Secondly, "who" needs choice? Do you really think that ordinary joe needs a choice of 10 WMs, 15 mp3 players, 5 office suites, etc. etc. ALL shoved down his/her throat when he boots up a system. NO Sir, s/he does not.
So, the basic point is, that choice is good, but not initially when you are beginning, since even thought choice is good, you just drown in it if you don't know your way around and are just starting.
So, what is stopping from some company from taking the initiative and coming up with a distro with 1 (I repeat ONE) of each type of app and the tools by which a user can him/herself find what else is out there.
Show a man how to stand up and then teach him to walk, and give him the tools, and rest assured he can doscover the world for himself.

If the MPAA can blame the text messaging for failed movies (and not on any other factor) I guess someone can apply the same logic and say that the movies which were hits and did well on the box office did so due to the same reason, i.e. text messaging by teenagers to others telling what a good movie it is.
but oh well, I guess MPAA and logic, now thats a bit too much to expect, not!!
