1. Consider the source of this... on Fox Says Web Bugs = Virus Risk · · Score: 1
Okay, why is everyone up in arms about this? First, this story originated from - say it with me - the popular media. Of course they're gonna mess it up, thats what they've been doing the entire time. Second, this is FOX News we're talking about here. The same network that brought you "Who Wants to Marry a Multimillionaire" and soon, "Temptation Island."

They are media sluts, willing to do anything for people to watch them almost to the point of being a soft-core porn network at times. Here in northern Va they're known for always opening with a murder or other scary story, and also for commercials like "Billy Bass boasts record sales! But what does it teach our children? Find out the horrible reality tonight on Fox News at six!"

Don't take them seriously, or any popular media seriously for that matter.

2. Paging JeffK, paging JeffK... on India Enlists Teen "Hackers" as Cyber Cops · · Score: 1

Any fears of impending US / India conflicts can be alleviated by sending the US's most prominent butcher of the English language, JeffK to serve on the aforementioned committee. Last I heard, the NSA was trying to get ahold of him and could not be reached for comment. Experts warned that Jeff's strange style of communication could have adverse effects on India at large.

3. An AOLer manages to post something on Sprint's Wireless Broadband - And What A TOS! · · Score: 1

Guy's email address is Xpresso85@aol.com...that says it all.

4. Internet adverts = necessary evil? on Non-banner Ads Coming to the Web · · Score: 1

If Internet advertising moves to commercials and annoying pop-ups, I'm sure that people are going to become more annoyed with it. After all, the promise of the Internet is fast access to a huge collection of information. If you get in people's way when they need to look something up quickly - as banner ads can sometimes do - they're gonna be pissed off. Jeffrey Veen has a great article discussing deceptive banners at Webmonkey and how they may garner more clickthroughs but end up agitating potential customers. I'm waiting for the day that people stop trying to commercialize the web, but I don't think it's going to happen.

5. Columbine is nothing new on Voices From The Hellmouth 4 · · Score: 1

Columbine happens everyday at almost all high schools, I'm sure many people can relate. Everything happens from Columbine except the actual physical violence. I did not suffer nearly as bad as those from the "Hellmouth" so to speak, but I had a bit of bloodlust for those who caused me pain, and I'm not a violent person by nature.

Also got to love people who make fun of us for pointing these things out like that inconsiderate jerk a couple posts up. Please, try to justify why it's okay for people to be abused because they don't fit the jock stereotype and they don't even try to.

If you're still in high school, do anything to piss them off, its worth it.

6. Way to many people named Gohan online... on Cartoon Network, Tenchi, Silverhawks, and DBZ · · Score: 1

Seems like everytime I'm playing a game of Tribes, Counterstrike or Quake 3, some moron joins with a name of "DBZ4VR2931" or "SSJ4-VEGETA" or "SUPRE GOHAN." I (obviously) don't care for the show, but it gets annoying when people run around with the character's names.
