If yoy know you are going to be hit, you just drop your apache, install a lightweight webserver, replace your homepage for just static content, with no cgi, no scripts, and put a message saying that services that rely on dinamic content won't be available until next week. Then you set conection limits in an per IP address basics, it's fucking easy, you can even do it with PortSentry, 5 minutes to set it up.
So, it's more than obvious that:

About what the USA has done over the world, let me explain this to you:

They then mantained comercial activities with this de facto governments.
During the 80's and 90's they have destroyed us in a diferent way, during the 70's, they gived _lots_ of credit to this "governments", that were there puted by the USA, and at incredibly abusive high interest rates. During the 80's and 90's, through the FMI, they tried (and we are still paying right now) to make us pay the interest for all those years of credit, which they have allmost given to themselves, and in situations that has been declared IN INTERNATIONAL COURTS ilicit (for example, they can't give credit to a dictator, to a government that hasn't been elected by people, not to mention the fact that this government was there because the USA said so.)

So, the trick should be on the driver, not in the hardware, that means that if the printer is a PostScript printer, and you don't use propietary software (Like the original printer driver, or propietary image processing software), you should be able to do whatever you want (that's how it should be). I am a GNU User. I Only use Free Software, and, specially, the GNU OS and all the software that is part of that OS. We found that Linux, while not part of the GNU project, is under GPL, so we could use it until we have our Hurd (don't say a word about it, we will have a usable beta of it someday..., eventually...) The so called Linux users and BSD users ignore the GNU project, even while they are using it's software, so it's just a technical decision to say i use this or that one. In our case it's a filosofical-ethical choice. May be OpenBSD is an exception...

First, it's not about OSS, it's about Free Software. Second, Free Software should be a Hacker's (In The best and original sense of the word) tool. I mean, i actually don't like AT ALL the idea that some marketroid that is actually AGAINST us, since they are using mostly propietary software, gets benefits from the software we write. I am willing to start changing my soft to a different license, a kind of more protective GPL, which enforces the fact that the software CAN'T be used or shiped along or combined in any way with non-free software, or used to produce something which is non free (I mean, the "work" produced using a software under such license can't be non-free). This may sound crazy, offtopic, evil and restrictive, but it has a reason to be: Propietary Software companys and IP defenders are attacking the Free Software comunity harder, and imposing more restrictions. They are trying to imposs as the final restriction: you can't write Free Software. So, we shoudl restrict them in the same way: You can have our sources and use our software, but you must let us have yours under the same terms and conditions. This will at least bit hard lots of propietary solutions, that are taking advantage from us, like Apple, many cpanels (cpanel, plesk, etc); all that propietary shit arround which is writed in perl, php, etc. Think about it: we are working for them, and helping them to bite us harder.

I have been hearing about that thing about this new m$ os that will be fast and you will be able to open more apps, now i see how!!, just take windoze, an old version obviously, XP would be still to heavy, say, NT 3.51, and run it in a machine with about 50 Gb of ddr, and if you add it proper fast scsi disks so it can swap out all the time, and there you go!, you just got unix like performance on a windowish os!!!, ups, well we still has to get ride of that bsod, we'r working on it guys:)

And they can put me in prission if they find me selling illegal copies of the movie, but, if i want to go and film the movie, the girl i went to the movies with, or the movie i am seeing, then it's of my fucking business!. So, if they say cameras are used to record, and records are used in illegal manners, then you can't bring a camera here. Then i tell them: weapons are used to kill, kill is illegal, then security guards can't have weapons! (which should be true). And, in the same fashion, big company's lawyers are used to fuck customers, that is no good for people, so lawyers should be forbiden?
We should put restrictions in what is actually illegal; not in some things they think can be used to infringe the law.
And, besides that, 100% of the money used to pay for the congress/police/whatever comes from people, even when it comes through big companys, people gived those companys the money. And that money came from people's work. But, only 20% of the laws go to help people, and 80% of the law is there just to help big companys. The same with other resources like police.

You really have a point!. I Allways say that tech control won't work. All the server-side control methods just doesn't work, not only for spam, but for anything. And when i say server side, i actually mean sender-side. For example: A Law that controls SPAM, the m$ idea that there only exists exchanger servers out there, while most of us are at sendmail or postfix, so they try to imposs a server side resitiction based on the false premise that people can modifiy software, and that everyone uses THEIR software. The same with anti-spam laws, a law in one country won't control people outside that country, and since inside the net there are no nationalitys, that won't affect even people in that country, because, again a technical problem, there is no way to control that!. So, going to the point: the more effective control is in the client-side:
1) Anti-spam soft (call it spamassasin, popfile, etc,etc) 2) Black Lists of Open Relays, known spam senders, etc,etc.
And, the more important ones, DON'T HELP CREATE MORE SPAM:
1) Don't use vulnerable software, like outlook. 2) Don't use software that helps spam or any other kind of e-abuse, fo example: propietary soft that has spyware) 3) Don't register to comercial sites/soft/whatever; since they objective IS to make money, they, or some employee there, will trade with your data for sure. 4) Don't answer surveys that has any relation with commerce. 5) As the parent writer said, DONT BUY from spam, or from sites/people that has any relation with it. 6) DON'T SPAM. This may sound stupid, but many people spam everyday, specially hotmail lusers, when you fordward that stupid joke to all the other assholes on your buddy list, you are: a) Distributing lists of addresses that man get to some spammer address. b) What you send is UNSOLICITED BULK EMAIL, if you want, SPAM.

BTW: y receive about 100 messages a day, that, when all filters (spamassesin and some Black Lists at MTA level) apply. It's fucking horrible when i download a 170 KB mail trough my 6k dialup conection just to see it was spam, imagine if i had to do a 10 secodns calculation too??... many times i download my mail in my old powerbook running NetBSD... low memory... that hash could take several minutes !!!, so, the spam will continue, just every spam will be more painfull for the assholes like us, who don't use m$ shit, and just want all those assholes downloading pr0n, using hotmail and playing games out of OUR Internet.

I Allways say that tech control won't work. All the server-side control methods just doesn't work, not only for spam, but for anything. And when i say server side, i actually mean sender-side. For example: A Law that controls SPAM, the m$ idea that there only exists exchanger servers out there, while most of us are at sendmail or postfix, so they try to imposs a server side resitiction based on the false premise that people can modifiy software, and that everyone uses THEIR software. The same with anti-spam laws, a law in one country won't control people outside that country, and since inside the net there are no nationalitys, that won't affect even people in that country, because, again a technical problem, there is no way to control that!.
So, going to the point: the more effective control is in the client-side:
1) Anti-spam soft (call it spamassasin, popfile, etc,etc)
2) Black Lists of Open Relays, known spam senders, etc,etc.
And, the more important ones, DON'T HELP CREATE MORE SPAM:
1) Don't use vulnerable software, like outlook.
2) Don't use software that helps spam or any other kind of e-abuse, fo example: propietary soft that has spyware)
3) Don't register to comercial sites/soft/whatever; since they objective IS to make money, they, or some employee there, will trade with your data for sure.
4) Don't answer surveys that has any relation with commerce.
5) As the parent writer said, DONT BUY from spam, or from sites/people that has any relation with it.
6) DON'T SPAM. This may sound stupid, but many people spam everyday, specially hotmail lusers, when you fordward that stupid joke to all the other assholes on your buddy list, you are:
a) Distributing lists of addresses that man get to
some spammer address.
b) What you send is UNSOLICITED BULK EMAIL, if you want, SPAM.
We migrated from a Cobalt server we had, It's good to hear that that abomination of nature will no longer be with us : )
Ok, so, how do i know if the computation was correct, or the sender just droped a lot of shit?? ... ...
WELL, because i DID the computation first, DUH!

A software should try to use as little resources as possible, not the ioposite!!!
... many times i download my mail in my old powerbook running NetBSD ... low memory ... that hash could take several minutes !!!, so, the spam will continue, just every spam will be more painfull for the assholes like us, who don't use m$ shit, and just want all those assholes downloading pr0n, using hotmail and playing games out of OUR Internet.
BTW: y receive about 100 messages a day, that, when all filters (spamassesin and some Black Lists at MTA level) apply. It's fucking horrible when i download a 170 KB mail trough my 6k dialup conection just to see it was spam, imagine if i had to do a 10 secodns calculation too??
Have you ever tried to send an e-mail using outlook through a m$ exchanger?? ... it may take several minutes to get out!!!! = )
