The people working at Amazon are making "well over $100k". And the VRE goes waaay out in the suburbs. Give us a break.

  2. Doubtful on The Real Reason Palmer Luckey Was Fired From Facebook (zdnet.com) · · Score: 4, Interesting

Execs lose billions of dollars and there are no repercussions. For example: Microsoft bought github for $7.5 billion. Eventually that will be marked down as a "writedown" for $7 billion, because Github isn't worth nearly what Microsoft paid for it. Essentially the executives wasted $7.5 billion. So, losing a $500 million court case is nothing. GE just did a writedown of $23 billion. There are no ramifications for the executives, but the stockholders get the shaft.

Not sure what you are talking about. They are generating billions of dollars of revenue and profits. What do you think their true calling is?

  4. Don't worry. Our species is unlikely to survive five more years anyway. But Musk is going to take us all to Mars on his holy rocket. That is, once he figures out how to build a $35k electric vehicle and his tunnel system is complete.

  5. Unless their rockets are going to take us to Mars and get us off this rock stuck in a gravity well, they are useless.

The US is the #2 manufacturing country in the world. That is why we have such high CO2 emissions. It really isn't that hard to understand.

You millenials are funny. Every time you read something you think it is new and novel. It isn't. People have been talking about changing steel production for decades. In fact, some of it is electrified. And it didn't require a "start up" and millions in VC funding to do it. You guys also think that switching out from coal/gas/etc is easy, because you haven't actually lived in reality yet.

There aren't any. That is why you shouldn't move energy long distances. It isn't efficient. The idea of electrifying everything is comical, but it is the new hip thing to do because people think electricity is produced by fairy dust.
