  1. I looked. That graph is not very accurate and is produced as a rough graph for journalistic purposes. You need to look at the raw numbers. In addition, the EU has increased its carbon emissions in 2017 by 1.7%. You guys talk a good game though!

  2. No one can read a graph like that. Look at the raw numbers and you will clearly see that the US is on a better reduction trend than the EU. I know it hurts Europeans to hear it, because they think they are progressive, but their greenhouse gas emissions rose 1.7% in 2017, and it looks like 2018 is going to be worse, so the numbers don't lie. It just shows all the promises and treaties don't mean a thing. A global temperature rise of 7 degree F is very feasible at this point.

  3. Actually the US trend is much better than the EU trend. But I guess reality doesn't matter in 2018, just perception.

  4. What makes it a troll? The EU and Asia continue to raise their carbon emissions. A global rise of 7 percent F is a very sensible projection. It makes no difference if the US changes their car emissions standards: it isn't going to help or hurt. I think Europeans just get upset when I point out that they are all talk and no action.

  5. Not sure why I was marked troll. The EU has increased their carbon emissions by 1.7 percent in 2017. This is a fact, not a troll.

  6. Since the EU and Asia has only increased their emissions year after year it makes sense. The EU in particular increased their carbon emissions by 1.7 percent in 2017. The problem will continue to exist until countries reduce their emissions.

  7. Don't worry. We will make the rocket fuel in space.

  8. That won't be a problem. SpaceX Interplanetary rocket (the one after BFR) will be able to regularly delivery heavy payloads directly to the Mars surface.

  9. My first immediate thought on this is I think this will work well on our space colonies on Mars. There will be no infrastructure so we can just setup one of these modules in each colony and have always available electricity.

  10. Definitely irrational. We all know that he is a stand-up guy. He is saving the Earth and humanity and stuff.

For consumers you would be better off with LoraWan and https://www.thethingsnetwork.o.... You can get cheap $20 devices for that already and no subscription.

  13. Rei isn't too bright. He is just a technocrat who thinks that he is smarter than everyone else. The amazing thing is he doesn't consider how much risk he is taking for limited upside. Even if he bought at $280 and sold at $310 it would be a small gain in exchange for taking a huge risk that the stock might fall below $280. If you are looking at making a gain like that you should just buy an index fund. Pretty dumb, but he is Enron like in his wanting to be the "smartest guy in the room".

    Christ. You techo-fanboys are insane.

People live in Iceland, but it is essentially a bubble, disconnected from the rest of Europe and the world. I know you think Musk is really some sort of hero, but he is not. Your naivete is charming though, but that comes from living in a bubble.

Space nutters equate processor development with the ability to colonize space. Since their home computer got faster every decade that must mean that everything else progresses like that.

  18. Yeah, the problem isn't the physical building tech (on the moon). It is just building stuff. On the moon. Did I mention it was on the moon? Space nutters.

Here is a hint: the rich and the political elite don't give a sh*t about "left" vs "right". They just care about power and money. I don't understand why people don't get this. Donald Trump is no more "left" or "right" than the Clintons. They just chose the side that get them to the power and financial level they want.

  21. That isnt a shadow profile on Facebook Is Giving Advertisers Access To Your Shadow Contact Information (gizmodo.com) · · Score: 0

That isn't a shadow profile. What they are describing is an existing Facebook account which has a phone number tied to it that the user never provided to Facebook but was presumably attached by other sources. It seems amazing to me that people think that Facebook (and other companies) aren't attaching tons of data about you from multiple data sources and partners. There are entire companies devoted to building profiles of you and have been for many decades.

  22. Did any of your "hypothesizes" work out?

  23. Exactly my point. Don't become an engineer for the money, do it because you love STEM. I think you just figured it out.

  24. There is nothing wrong with that. A lot of people prefer manual labor and working outside of an office. My point is rational people would rather work in sales or marketing than shovel sludge. Obviously you don't know what "paid well" means if you think a guy pouring concrete is getting paid well.

  25. There is a book on this very topic: "The War on Boys". I haven't read it.
