  1. RIAA is overlooking something here... on What The RIAA Gets Out Of File Sharing · · Score: 0

A filesharing program is not only for music files! (Although, I would personally doubt it's used for anything else, heh, heh) But a couple of friends could easily use a file-sharing program to share a report that one of them wrote, and then they share the file with something like WinMX or something and then modify it to make many different reports for the same class. Another example. Guns. A gun could save somebody's life. But, one could also take someone's life. But guns are legal to own. Maybe they'll make it illegal to buy or use guns, too...

  2. Fun is not the issue... on Games and the 'Geek Stereotype' · · Score: 0

Fun is not the thing that makes video games sell less than movies, etc. It is the fact that people see them as bad, or inproductive, or addictive, and all of that other crap that it really isn't. People love movies. And is paying to go to see a movie considered bad versus paying for less to go and play at an arcade? Sadly, yes. Even though, you are almost always more active when you play video games, than you are when you watch a movie especially at a theater where you eat popcorn and all sorts of fattening stuff and yet surveys target video games as a source of obesity. Sound like a very selective survey if you ask me. Video games are not bad.

  3. Open Source and Linux on New Competition For CodeWeavers: Aclerex · · Score: 0, Troll

Trying to sell any software for Linux is against
the idea of Linux, in my opinion. I thought that
Open Source was Linux. This eventuality really sucks. I guess I'll just have to start supporting
Billy and his group of butts. Great job, Wine.
    You fail it.

  4. Which games? on Videogames Affirm Violence Among Kids? · · Score: 1

Oh yeah, my brother just became obsessed with Tetris, and then he tried to kill me. Yeah, right. Which games lead to violence? Not all, I would certainly think! I mean, someone saying that they are imitaing a certain game when they hurt someone intentionally is a different target of blame versus that of all games. Blaming games at large is a bunch of BS. Nethack is a very violent game. (It isn't animated, though) But, you can eat people after you kill them and all sorts of stuff! And I don't think I know anyone who would go out and kill someone because they love Nethack.

  5. 7 hours is excessive! on Games As Stealth Learning Tools? · · Score: 1

7 hours in a week is excessive! But I have learned many words from Nethack, (A very good game, the best, in my opinion) Such as the word for a Japanese Long sword, shord sword single-edged polearm, etc. Besides, Nethack is fun! And it's fun to have fun.

  6. Yes! Problem-solving! on Games As Stealth Learning Tools? · · Score: 1

The Military even did a test where they had some people play "Medal of Honor" for 2 weeks and then compared their skills at detecting stuff on a radar screen with those who didn't play video games. And do I have to tell you who scored higher? No. Video games are fun. And fun's what matters, right?

  7. What about stores? on Everquest Connection Alleged In Child Death · · Score: 1

I hear all the time about kids dying while their parent(s) went into a store and forgot about them. And people say "So sad...must've just got carried away, it could happen to anyone..." If it was because of some Everquest-addict they would target gaming as bad, and so on. I have a sister who's a true horse-freak. I mean, everything horses. I love gaming. but do I get to game as much as she rides horses? NO WAY! Of course, that's because, "Oh, riding horses gives you exercise, and you're outside when you do it, and it's not addictive, and..." Please. I would love having a horse, though. Then I could eat it or sell it, and buy stuff for my computer! I'd take Nethack anyday to riding on some filthy smelling beast who poops everywhere. I love Nethack.

  8. Self-Control on Everquest Connection Alleged In Child Death · · Score: 1

Why don't people ever talk about addiction to things like movies, or stuff?! Everybody ALWAYS (Including my parents, I'm only 15) target video games as bad because "Oh, they're addictive. Oh, you don't get anything out of it. Oh, why don't you go read that one stupid book?" I mean, my Mom has confessed to being addicted to reading. What about that?! We can watch ALL the movies we want, but nowhere near that with video games. That's why I'm building my own computer. Anyone want to contribute? My address is...

  9. Yes! Don't confuse the cause for the effect on Everquest Connection Alleged In Child Death · · Score: 1

I wouldn't forget something like that. I'm not a parent... but! Doing something like that is just stupid. The game is not to have the blame upon it! It is the negligent Everquest-addict who is in the wrong! Why play everquest, anyway?! Actually, I don't know what it's like, but it looks weird. Why not retrogame, like me! Not enough people retrogame. It's so sad...(Sniff!)

  10. Not reading?! on Computer Game Improves Children's Hearing · · Score: 1

Look. Playing Video games increases hearing, and reflex, and such. I myself (I'm not an old guy) have learned many words from video games and computer games. Okay, maybe I don't read enough books, perhaps, but I can attribute a deal of my current vocabulary to games. Besides, games are fun.

  11. Who cares about dates?! on Computer Game Improves Children's Hearing · · Score: 1

Dames suck. Well, almost all. Anyway, emptying your pockets to go to some lame chick flick with a girl, instead of buying that one game you want (if it's good) is stupid. Besides, playing games is fun! And that's what matters, right?

  12. Open Source Forever! on Blaster Writer Caught · · Score: 1

Besides, Bill Gates deserves do get his butt kicked. If he gave me enough money to buy all the tech toys I would be tempted not to hire a ninja to take care of him. (I probably would, anyway, though!) But, since he hasn't, I'm gonna diss him until that time comes, and hope this sort of thing happens again. Use Linux/UNIX, and you will be happy with great happiness. Anyone who wants to arrest a great hacker in the making is obviously stupid. Let's all kick Billy's butt! YEAH!

  13. Re:Indeed. on Itagaki Criticizes Dead Or Alive Hackers · · Score: 1

Here, here! I haven't done any PC game hacking but ROM-hacking is LOADS of fun! If you don't want it hacked, don't make it available to any- body!

  14. My Comment on A TCP/IP Stack and Web Server In BASIC · · Score: 1

Whoever wrote that must have had a lot of spare time on their hands! I can't even get a simple game to work in BASIC without LOTS of debugging of problems that are problems because of the stupid nature of the language!
