    As it stands right now, I dont have a snowball's chance in hell of getting my mum to switch. It was hard enough getting her to use Firefox.
    That's easy: unpack all the Gentoo source packages. Use sed to replace every 'Linux' with 'Windows'. Compile, install and tell your mother that this is the latest and greatest Windows version. I guess, you can actually put the sed command somewhere in a system-wide ebuild or make.conf.

    Yeah, I know... It's like putting a VoIP phone in front of a user and all of the sudden he forgot how to pick up a telephone receiver and dial a number. 'I'll never manage to make a phone call again!'. Some people are nostalgic when it comes to technology.

    t doesn't matter -- it's a development device intended for developers, not a product for the general public. You'll likely not be able to get hold of one... unless you have a Qtopia License and/or are an active developer.
    It'll be available in September for about 690 USD. The Qtopia license is included.

    I concour with the last poster, that was the funniest thing I have seen in ages, surely its a joke site, I mean no-one is stupid enough to actually believe that stuff are they, tell me it ain't so!
    I'm sorry, but it's all real. The knob is made in switzerland by the same one-man-company that builds the potentiometer. You can also buy the "C37 laquer" for 215 bucks/2oz from the inventor. Whatever you paint with this laquer sounds better. From a wooden volume knob to metal cd player cases.

    The list is meant to be a chain of couse and effect, a chain of arguments. It makes sense to put this simple but important fact onto the list, because there are people out there not knowing that the governor of Florida is the President's brother. I could ask a lot of my friends in Germany if they know the name of Floridas Governour and they wouldn't be able to give an answer.

    I have heard a few people here and there complain that Konqueror is of no use to them as a file manager, because it is only single-pane. One thing I never noticed until recently is that Konqueror can actually have as many panes as you like! This is really useful. I have set up the hotkeys for splitting the view panes so that Alt-S will split to the side, Alt-D will split down and Alt-X closes the currently-selected pane. Now, normally I like using single-pane, but sometimes two or more can be easier. Whenever I need that, I use the shortcuts to do that. For example, since I use Konqueror as my browser too, I can go to a website with some images or files that I want, split the pane in two, navigate to my home directory in one of the panes, then it is as simple as dragging and dropping the items I want from the website to the folder.
    Menu->Settings->Profiles->Midnight Commander

    My KDE is in German, so I don't know the exact location, but you get the idea.

    His report is obviously about the first install. I guess that the cameras are supported, because the one integrated in my Vaio C1XD is working as well. THe Intel WiFi card is certainly supported and the touchscreen is nothing special. The Vaio buttons/zoom buttons should be covered with ACPI.

    It is a full featured computer with a 1.5 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM with a docking station to connect your monitor, usb keyboard/mouse and ethernet for about $1.700, but does it run Linux?
