    Forgive the cheesiness, but I use OSS because I disagree with the fundamental hyper-capitalistic philosophies of modern plantion/slave owners (insert Microsoft's name here), and because I do agree with the ideology behind OSS.

    Those jokes are so freakin old they don't even touch funny.

    But anyway, is this really a fair comparison? A lot of the performance that they measured has to do with how the software is written and compiled.

    I don't know if Nvidia's drivers are open source or not, but they already do a heck of a lot more of work with the community on driver issues than anyone else. And oh, about the install: RTFA!

    Most people think apples are worth enough to hang on to them for quite a while. I have friends who still use their apple IIc's on occasion.

    You mean people still think that AMD Duron 1Ghz CPUs = Current Athlon XP's? The heat dissipation problem was fixed long ago. And of course P4s disipate better than AMDs because the chip itself is bigger, which winds up costing you and me more.
