    We have the same kind of commercials in MS, and probably over the whole dominion of BellSouth. Their commercials don't make any sense, so its obvoious that they're just doing it for the PR and trying to influence the weak minds of politicians.

    Maybe VoIP will finally bring the telcom monopolies down.

    Don't they tell students not to open unsolicited email attachments?

    That said, and knowing how stupid people can be, I'm surprised we haven't seen massive network slowdowns at the small private college I go to.We had trouble for two weeks with Blaster, because it got behind the firewall when students came back to school.

    IMHO, it's the big boys that have the conspiracy to sell crappy hardware. Try performance testing almost any (PC Chips mobos don't count) custom system against a Dell with a similar hardware configuration, and you'll see what I mean.

    I've done it with my ECS board with generic ram, and I came out on top.

    It's the big computer makers that sell the cheap generic hardware. Try getting anything that's essential and non-OEM, hardware or software, to work with one of those boxes.

    It would be awfully nice of NVidia to open up its driver development process.

    But I doubt that anyone would have spent the time to perfect them for the platform yet. AMD-64 has to prove itself before people will start moving toward perfection.

    Really, why have the patent office at all if its not going to inforce patents? What's the point in paying people just to accept registrations and not determine if they're legal or not?

    Not a bad boint, but it's more likely that when the Chinese government wants to spy on someone with a cell phone, they just monitor the cellular networks.

    Just like the US Government.

    We're really not that different. The sad thing is we'll probably destroy each other because of it someday.

    The parent is right about its convenience. FAT is the only fs I now of that gives you stable write abilities on Linux, Mac, and Windows. The entire reason for that is crappy file system support by MS. It seems like they're trying to make FAT less appealing and push people toward a more proprietary solution.

    Seems to me that it would be a double standard if you couldn't download the pictures but you could make printer cartridges.
