    You should have kept reading. The author is highlighting how the performance issues on the desktop were claimed to not be a hindrance on the server. The rest of the article goes into depth on that last point, focussing on the server.

    It seems you are the one with the lack of understanding.

    You should really read more about what's going on, as that's a very poor description of what's happening in Europe. Hint: Europe != EU != Eurozone, and there are lots of different economies in the EU, some are doing rather well indeed.

    Their issue is the wealthy are not taxed enough, banks aren't regulated enough, and lobbying tends to keep the powerful powerful and the poor poor. Protesting is not lobbying, and it's either intellectually lazy or dishonest to say it is.

    There's only one background program needed to keep the system safe, and on my machine it's using 520KB of memory, and is not using any CPU. It updates silently, and doesn't require rebooting.

    Saying "Android" is like saying "computer" - it's a very vague term that embraces a wide variety of hardware. I've got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and it has absolutely no problem scrolling pages (containing flash, if desired ;)) smoothly as silky butter on a skillet. Plus, if you think iOS works without event queues, you are sorely mistaken :)

    I don't plug my Android device into my computer at all - it's a Samba host and server, so it just sits on my network. If I want to get files on or off it, I just browse it when it's still in my pocket (or use it to browse my network, and copy files across). Same goes for development - you can use wifi for debugging app development on it.

    What the fuck? Why not just set up a direct deposit to your landlord, like folks do in civilised countries? No messing around with chequebooks or the post. No messing around with *anything*. I've never paid my landlord with anything other than direct deposits, since I first left home in the 90s.
