    They have developed an IP-based method of communicating with the TV hardware itself. That will be open-sourced, along with the rest of it, in 2011. It combines internet media with traditional TV channels, seamlessly. I watched the stream, and it looked pretty interesting. How many adverts they can throw at you, however, remains to be seen.

    It only seems to do that when you have configured it to send usage statistics back to Google. It must be for tracking, as the server sends nothing back (even going so far as sending a 204 instead of 200).

    The actual users of it think it's fantastically serious. Lots of people, though, laugh their asses off at it. As you can see from merely visiting it, editing it is a much harder endeavour, and all changes are watched very closely. It's retarded.

    Why not just get a second SIM from your mobile phone provider, then put that in your notebook/netbook/whatever. The only difference is you don't get instant access to the data on your phone from your computer, but then you can still copy it across using USB, Bluetooth, or WiFi, and take calls while using your data connection.

    You only use the document markup language to create the layout. Everything else is scripted. The script itself defines which HTML is used, not the other way round. Also, h.264 works fine on my Pre.

    1. Adobe are constantly making it faster. They've been doing that with every release. Whether people actually code it correctly is another thing. They've been constantly updating the GPU acceleration, memory footprint, etc.
    2. I can't tell when a site is using flash - it has no visible performance hit on any of my PCs.

    The cellphone in question needs service in order to send. As does the satellite phone. But satellite phones, by their very nature, do not need ground-based infrastructure relatively close to the user in order to send data. Cellphones do. You can't go out into the middle of the jungle, or as Tesla says, in the middle of the sea, and expect to communicate with your Ericsson PCS phone ;)
