    ... then show him something *you* made that builds on his interest, making it even cooler. Robots, tanks, helicopters, police cars, whatever it takes. That will pique his interest like nothing. Encouragement, explanation, even bribery (reward coding something specific with money - worked for me). Both of my parents were developers back in the early days of mainframes, and that's how they got me hooked. I've been coding since about 6 or 7. I say "coding" - back then it wasn't much, but it sure was excellent fun.

    Or, you can split the store and the payment into two sections, letting someone else handle the actual payment side. There's nothing worse than an off-the-shelf ecommerce web interface.

    As long as the US demonstrates its willingness to walk over whatever nation it wants, for whatever reason it wants, it should listen to the rest of the world. I seem to remember you fellas getting a tad uppity about something rather similar a couple hundred years ago. Though I guess murder without representation is fine, and taxation without representation is horrific.

    That was a weak troll effort. Just because you keep repeating how bad Vista is doesn't make it so. With a 64-bit Vista machine with 8GB of ram you can do far more than an 64-bit XP box with 8GB of ram. The only thing absurd is your cognitive dissonance :)

    Placebo effect? Because they spent so much money on a computer and can't bear the thought of admitting it was not worth what they paid? Because they're fanbois and will never admit to any fault with a mac? Or any mixture of the above? The mac crowd has a sizeable group of well-to-do folks who love nothing more than macs, for a number of reasons. Trusting mac user statistics is about as accurate as trusting Saddam Hussein's last "free" election. The numbers don't tell the whole story.

    That's funny. The PC games industry (which is essentially all Windows gaming) is expanding by billions of dollars per year. Just because it's not running on Linux doesn't mean it doesn't exist :)

    Can we ditch this Aero meme now? It's not accurate, it was never accurate, and it makes everyone involved (including me by association) look like a complete retard. Aero works perfectly well on many low-end video cards produced in the last 4 or 5 years.

    Or you could use a few smaller planes that also have uses outside this one particular attack scenario. Or use special forces. Or anything that doesn't require massively-expensive limited-role aircraft which sit in hangars or fly at airshows for most of their operational lives.

    This card is two cards stuck together, with a shitload of memory, and all the required hardware to link the two together in SLI on the same board. Comparing that to a bare-bones basic-ass mac that can barely play H264 1080p video is laughable.

    I don't know about the US, but in Europe that's unheard of. Over here at least, your contract is seperate from your phone. As long as you keep your contract for the minimum number of months required, it doesn't matter what happens to the phone. You can lose your phone and let your insurance buy you a new one, and your contract will still cover it. My guess is iPhones are going to be ripped off massively ('idiot bauble' syndrome), and they're doing all they can to make it less appealing to "lose" one and get a replacement. Even so, pricey phones over here don't command such ridiculous caveats.
