I would gladly pay a monthly fee for hearing music that I can't choose, and maybe advertisements every now and then! It's like radio, but it costs money and bandwidth!
Well, I did not know that it was officially named "The linux kernel model". Or maybe it was just that the slashdot people have a need to get the word "linux" to as many news headers as possible. Don't tell me you haven't noticed?
Indeed! My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw that the smart poster was moderated down and the "no! no! the fault is not on linux or on it's users! NO!"-poster was moderated UP! Gaah.
Mithril! All folk desired it. It could be beaten like copper, and polished like glass; and the Dwarves could make of it a metal, light and yet harder than tempered steel. Its beauty was like to that of common silver, but the beauty of mithril did not tarnish or grow dim.
> Just like putting an "#include "...
It was supposed to be "#include linux/soundcard.h". Stoopid posting system killed the greater than- and lesser than-chars.
> tar zxf' are all commands...
> tar ztf your tarballs...
tar xzf, tar tzf. Oh, all those linux users I've seen completely lost when they are put to use posix tar. "Where's the z flag? Why can't I use the obscure parameter order my gnu tar accepts?".
Things like this are baaaaad, mmmkay? Just like putting an "#include " in the beginning of you.c file.
Somehow, it seems that this disease mostly applies to linux users.
This thing is not even related to PalmPilot, which the category would imply. There should be a more general category (handhelds etc.), now my opinion is that this falls under Linux-category.
Currently there are really many posts which clerly are about linux and , mostly about linux, put under category , and if you ignore linux posts (like I do) you still keep getting linux news.
This story shouldn't be labeled under "Programming", this is a definately a "Linux" story! Why on earth would anyone else but a linsux user be interested which packager is better, debian's or redhat's?
Damn, now when I ignore all linux news'n'stories, I usually get only 2-3 news about linux/day. Almost makes slashdot readable, but this again was definately a linux story, so please be stricter when you choose the story's type.
If they actually would make an own linux distribution, why should anyone care? Whee, another easy-to-install distribution? It'd be same shit in a different bag anyway.
Why does the editor of the stories put his personal opinions about operating systems? It is clear that he is a linux-zealot, but it's not nice to read something about linux in every fscking story, for example in this story: "Course those 18 month old boxes are still bitchin' linux desktops"

B.S. grep will still read(2) the stdin.
Heat will also radiate, not only conduct.
maybe... if you... would learn... to type... two words... without spelling misgakes... or extra dots... someone would... take you... seriously...
> They said it was slow and consumed too much memory!
> Look at Java today!
Yeah, uh... It's even slower and consumes even more memory?

Hey, _how_ about _not_ underlining _every_ other _word_?
Shouldn't this be "wine can run it too"? Wine, you know, works also under other operating systems than linux. Oh, you didn't care about them, sorry.

The Fellowship of the Ring, by J.R.R. Tolkien
Superiority, bah. GNU zealot.
What the fsck? Who cares about _LINUX_ drivers, the thing I want is _XFREE86_ support. Damn linsuxers.
Please do moderate me down, I'm so terribly wrong about this. Your windowing environment isn't X (what's that?), it's either "KDE" or "Linux".

No, I'm not trolling. This is a fact.
Of course it's linux-only - such thing could only be made for leenocks (or|==) windows.
