  1. Well, at least... on Dell Issues Laptop Battery Recall · · Score: 0

At least I bought mine this month, the 1st. So I am safe.

An E1705... with a neat Dragon skin.

I feel sorry for my two friends, both who own Dell laptops. Why didn't they find this out sooner? You'd think two years would be enough time! And I never heard of the laptops exploding... so it must have been a rare occurence anyways. Better safe than sorry, I suppose.

  2. Hmm on Slashdot CSS Redesign Winner Announced · · Score: 0

I understand the use of the simple design of Slashdot, for readability and saving bandwidth but as a web designer it just looks too... old? Out of date? The new winning design looks beautiful and pretty much stays true to the same look and feel of the current design. I am very fond of it. Props to the creator.

  3. I like it. on Why Vista Won't Suck · · Score: 0

I've used Vista since a few CTPs ago (MSDN subscriber) and I must say, it really is shaping up. The last release I couldn't get widescreen working (even though it worked the release before) but I was very impressed with that version. I have yet to try the Feb CTP, mostly because I didn't want to keep installing it. I did buy a new hard drive so I could try the new version... but I really have no use for it. Anyway, my experience was rather good. The user permissions dialog was a bit annoying, but it's gotten better and didn't do that much last time I saw. The interface is sleeker and easier to use, in my opinion. The effects and eye candy is very nice, but I'm an aesthetic person. The startup time and programs loaded as well as XP, sometimes faster. I imagine it'll be more optimized closer to release. The control panel was a bit confusing, but switching to Classic view was much better. I never liked the grouped control panel in XP, but in Vista it is so much better. I only needed classic view to use the "Add Hardware" wizard. Everything else was found quickly when I needed it. I'm happy with Vista, and since I have MSDN, I'll get it and then install it when my games can all run. Most of them can, Steam, Guild Wars, and a few others I've tested.

  7. As a gamer... on Nintendo's Boss On Western Partnerships, Online · · Score: 1

As a gamer with a cable modem, PC and a Gamecube, I really want online play capability with my console. I am buying the Broadband Adapter for the GC and downloading WarpPipe to allow me to play Mario Kart: DD!! online with other players. Personally, online play is inevitable, it was with PC and now will be with consoles ONCE enough people can actually have internet connections. Usually people don't have ethernet ports in their walls near the consoles. Wi-Fi should fix that. I think right now it's a bit complicated for players to set up their consoles to play online.

    > Or maybe you could get a real job. HTML, Javascript, DHTML, and Flash are not "professional tallents".
So where do you work, Burger King is a great "real" job isn't it?

I agree with that score, that's flamebait.

I will have you know, it may not be "professional" in the sense of the word, but I'm 15 and I can make a good amount of money building websites and services.

Maybe you should learn to spell "talent" then to claim someone isn't a professional because they work on the web.

There would be no attractive web without these guys. Everything would have a gray background and a Times New Roman font.

Also, did you know that if you design corporate websites or logos, you can be paid thousands and thousands of dollars? Logos can run about 20 grand for a company. Websites can run above 200 grand. You can make more money on one website then someone makes in a year (albeit it sure as heck isn't a small website for that much, plus you'll be working for some time [ maybe full ] with a team).

I'm starting out early, and I am already creating websites for small companies (smaller law firms and communications companies) and making connections. If I can almost buy a $2500 computer in a couple months, why can't my job be classified as "professional."

And I'll have YOU know, HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Flash are ALL programming languages. Not exactly C++ or Java, but they program the web. This experience is readying me for education at my two targets, MIT or DigiPen. I might skip MIT because I may want to learn Gaming Development instead of pursuing a career in Computer Science.

Next time, before you say something blatantly retarded, THINK.
