We call Times of India, Toilet Paper of India. It is a very old news paper but in recent years have degraded into tabloid standard and pop culture promoter. Haven't read anything sensible or serious for a long time.
Robotic Psychiatry during my lifetime, I believed, would not be to program robots, but to ready the humans (though I always hoped that there would be patients that, like Susan Calvin, I could communicate verbally with and observe their behaviors within their environments).
I apologise I had not. But now I want to ask, would HID or IDE designing become 'Software Psychiatry'?
Was there ever an effort at 'Psychiatry' level to ready for computers? Was it needed? Then why this? Even before the robot have appeared? Has sci-fi so affected us that we need to 'get-in-terms' with some even before it has taken final form?
Is Robotic Psychiatry glorified debugging? If not, how is different that debugging? If I 'beta' test a program to see it's behaviour against various input and look for bugs, am I a Software Psychiatrist?

..getting a work visa in India for an American, while possible, is not going to happen anywhere near the scale that it does for Indians coming to the U.S.
Why should it? Indian workers came to US because there was a demand and they are part of the supply. In India the demand is well fed by local supply. So why the expectation that American workers will see same flow? Remeber, Demand/Supply?
These things cost around the same as you mentioned. There are more expensive things too. But the idfference is that unlike in US where one _has_ to buy at these rates, in India you will get similar or laternative solutions for much cheaper rate. If you can not afford a $100 room, you can go to Youth Hostels if you are member $2, cheap railway station Inn for $5, stay at temple 'dharamshala' if it is a religious destination or sleep at railway platform or bus station. While traveling during good weather, we used to carry sleeping bags and if we had connections we used to sleep at the station. They are well lit, food and tea is always available and many people present.
What I am trying to say is that a particular thing may not be cheaper in India, but alternatives are available for those who have to or want to pay less.
oops I forgot.. the hidden meaning: It is a common way to use Sarovar to convey thinhs like: that book is sarovar of knowledge, the teacher is sarovar of knowledge, the mother's heart is a sarovar of love for her children, so on and so forth.
Will this documentary stick to India-rhetorics? Will they give a breakup of how much is outsourced where? Isreal? Ireland? Mexico? Russia? Australia? How much outsourcing was call center? R&D? Geek-related manufacturing?
if open source is better option than closed source, then the best way to fight closed source should be open source. right? but you suggest best way to fight closed source is another closed source. where does open source go then?
it is like saying, we are defending freedom and hence forst thing we will do is curb it!
Assuming this is a serious query:
There is a nice hierarchy of 'divinity' in India/Hindus.
First are millions of representations for aspects of nature (which people misleadingly refer to as gods). Like fire, wind, earth, directions, rains, stars, constellations, the point where earth's and moon's orbit intersect and so on. (Indra, Agni, etc)
Then there are avatars. These are human forms of higher beings. Ruled by laws of human existence, these too are born and die like humans. (Krishna, Rama).
Then there are the ones who manage this instance of creation. The one who created (Bhrama) one who maintains (Vishnu) and one who destroys (Shiva). Also at this level of conceptualization of divinity is Shakti (Goddess).
At higher abstraction is Bhraman whose personification is called Prajapati. God as per English speakers. The pronoun used to refer to this is 'tat' (That). Unlike He or She as used commonly in other cultures/religions.
That is also represented as the sound (Om). That is what created Bhrama, Vishnu and Shiva so they could create an instance of the creation we live in. That is everywhere and also inside every human.
To realize and know That is what is referred to as Moksha and Nirvana and Mukti.
As That is inside me, to know That is also called self-realization.
And the point of concentration of That in our mind/brain. In fact it is supposed to be exactly behind the place where people put the red dot toward the center of brain.
When hindus greet, they say Namaskar. They pay respect to That inside you.
And that is why Hindu put a red dot at that location. To remind self and others, of That.
IMHO,
1. Internet Bandwidth: Most people are on dialup and do not have very good 'net access'. That is the biggest hurdle. There is lot of 'free stuff' but it is not being shared properly or organised. This will improve.
2. Need: For a start, most of what is needed is currently under work. So many join in. Most of work has been done wrt to language and localisation.
There is no bias against information sharing as such.
I worked there for 2 yrs.
"What are the working conditions for the average employee?"
except when the AC broke down, it was wonderful.
"Is the average employee working an 8 hour day, a 10 hour day, or longer?"
It was 8 hrs. I was a bachelor and my friends were in same company, same office. So we used to hang in there. Go to gym in office. Talk to freinds in other section over tea, tea nad more tea.
Leisurely continue to work on problems we faced.
Many people in my office were not from same town. So there was no 'family' to go home to. So later we used to go to some place, have dinner, hang around, come back to office and do more work.
So effectively it ended from 10-12 hrs.
We were paid over time only of we were asked to stay back and not if we satyed back on our own.
And no, they did ask us to stay back when needed and paid us the time even though they knew we would stay back anyway.
One thing in India is you can get a expensive home and a real cheap one. Many friends share home. Rent a 3 bed room flat and pile in 3 or 4 people. that cuts teh cost of everything by 4!
Typically we had cublicles. room was not liked as an option. people talked to each other loudly and joked around all the time. office was not liked as you were secluded. though it was a staus symbol.
"How much influence do management\ownership have on the average workers life?"
quite a lot!
I studied for 6 yrs. I paid INR 12,000 per year. I finished in '99. We maid INR 500 each month for food. We lived in hostel and paid INR 500 for that. I lived far from my home and traveled back if college for off for more than 6 days (it took 5 days to and fro). Each trip costed INR 300 with almost 50% student concession from Indian Railways. The queue for reservation was long (2-4 hrs) and so was journeys. We usually took book to read and typically 5-6 people traveled together so we used to talk a lot too.

How about the other way? BTW, Indian president is a rocket scientist!
Strangely, I did not. I should have used preview to make sure URL was correct!
Actually there is more privacy in India. Sort of 'anonymity' due to 'multiplicity'. Been there, felt that.

Is there any engine/technique that can allow wild card searches? or even regular expression in search words?
