I'm looking at colleges too at the moment, and $26k is very, very mid-priced. Nice private schools in Upper NY state can hit as high $60-80k a year. The average "good" school (NYU, Cornell, etc.) isn't going to cost less than $40k in total (tuition, board, etc.) The money Bush took for his tax cuts are also raising public college tuition rather sharply... it's a tough, though world out there:-(
All students that are citizens of the UK have university tuitions (non-private schools, of course) paid for by the government afaik. Same with Sweden and Russia... yet another reason America isn't as #1 as it would like to be...:(
the assumtion was not made by looking at the MS code, but by looking at how MS products behave. when I set up accounts on a computer I make for friends/relatives, by default, accounts are set to administrator privelages and have no password. that's a design flaw.
This is not flamebait, but a very valid argument many people use against linux.
The point it failes to realize though is that with linux, a patch comes out for every exploit almost instantaneously, and anyone is able to patch it. With windws, one has to wait for MS to come around to patching it, since they are the only ones that decide what is worth patching and when.
A windows patch may happen tomorrow, next week, next month, or may not happen at all! A linux patch, if important, will be patched almost instantaneously, and if not, you can patch it all by yourself if you like.
I don't think it requires military equipment... i'm no engineer, but from what i know all you need to do is figure out what GPS provider the airplane is using, google what frequency it uses, and make a really strong transmitter on that frequency...
with no signal, the system can't really work... meh, i'm sure the makers know much more about this than./ers do... although i'd still rather have a pilot than a program flyhing me places
actually, there was one very recent case I studied in Sociology about a Jewish father claming to be a "better Jew than Abraham" because he did not stop, as abraham did, to kill his two children after his wife recieved full custody when remarrying a christian...
you're a funny guy:) i'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but some kind of free software already is the mainstream in the corporate enviroment. free sofware already runs most websites...
if not (as i suspect) you are a sad, sad, person. personally, i have many, many muslim friends. a lot of which would give me the shirt off their backs... as far as murder and genocide, don't tell me that Christians and Jews are better than any other religion...
do some real research before opening your mouth and don't talk out of your ass...
lol /agree
does EQ count as socializing?
that i can agree with. but linux is moving towards there also.
#1 many linux distros patch themselves also, just as easily as windows.
if you are a sysadmin and have to worry about security being exploited during the time MS is patching, the advantage linux brings is obvious
among the rest of your half-assed made-up li...misconceptions, this one was glaring:
Medicare, which is crappy because that means there are three times as many ass holes with head colds wasting the docters time.
The countries with the top life expaectancies have medicare (Japan and France being on top). America is in the 20's last time I checked (2000).
12 billion?
1000 employees...
12 million/head... nice
laughed my ass off lol

the fact that every account set up on a WinXP system is Admin without a password by default

no, that can't be right
I like the artistic touch in the top right... it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...
/. should get a new layout (or a choice of layouts)...
Before someone says that they're just a small band of impoverished but brave open source developers who can't afford to pay lawyers....well, tough.
Actually, then they are still likely to be represented by the FSF, or FSFE in this case, probably.
