Most information we are tougth are in books, the professors just force us to learn that, the way they do that and your colegues average capacity (how much the professor can demand from them) is what makes a university different from another.

I stopped reading/watching news because they talk lots of stuff that i don't want to know: wars, terrorism, crimes, tragedies, ... because they aren't related to my life.

Most of the news related to my life/job are on slashdot. The only tv show that i watch are finance talks, because they resume everything is going on the finance world.
And ocassionaly visit some sport website to view my team results or when the next game is.

But for more in depth information i read books (get them in the library), their information is much better than the internet: all in one place, much better quality and very directed for learning.

What other claimants to first flight have failed in is in providing convincing documentation of their achievements
Santos Dumont, the brazilian in question, flew with his airplane 14-bis, at a scheduled time, proposed by the scientific association of paris and the aero club of paris. There's photos of it and several withness.
I was not a unique high wind situation like Wrigth brothers, the aero club scheduled a time and he repeated the flight, just like the scientifc method demands.
They made no further progress, and nothing ever came of or was based on their designs.
Santos Dumont created better airplanes and after created Demoiselle, a much better airplane he retired. And his airplanes were the base of the european airplane industry.
