When I can but a Toyota Matrix for half the price, get twice the cargo space and still get 38 mpg. I think consumers are realizing that hybrids are just a clever way for automakers to tax people who suck at math.

The Matrix doesn't have twice the cargo space. According the same link, the Matrix has LESS cargo space than the Prius.
The Matrix wasn't half the price (It Appears the Matrix is no more), but again according to the above. Matrix was $19275 vs $24200 for Prius. Hardly half. The Base Prius is also a lot better equipped than a Base Matrix.
Also the average driver would save $850 annually on gas driving the Prius over the Matrix(if gas prices stay the same), meaning it would take 5.8 years to make up the price difference, after that it is gravy and you have a better equipped car, and more savings going forward.
If you are young, then you probably don't have much of a music collection, so you will probably spend a lot to build one.
If you are old (as I am), then you probably built you collection years(decades) ago, in Vinyl/CDs, ripped them, and just keep mainly listening to this older music, spending next to nothing on new music, which you (I certainly) don't like much of.
The width might be reasonable, but the vertical change looking up/down the screen is likely neck strain inducing.
Beyond that they are using cheapo TVs, not monitors and the minimum brightness is very high. Fine for a TV, not so hot on a monitor you stare directly into all day.

Verge has more extensive coverage, including how it works. It plays the video locally on your computer, then uses WebRTC to essentially send screen caps to the device.
This is the critical part: it needs to recompress the video again in real time to send it to the chromecast.
That is bound to destroy quality for most people and cause hiccup on higher resolution materials.
That is a very poor workaround, that plays the video locally then does some messy screen casting to give you compression artifacts/chop/stutter and lip sync issues:

But later testing a Consumer Reports showed a few of Hyundais models got less than 40 MPG in CR testing. This is ODD because CR testing is more straight forward and the vast majority of cars beat their EPA Highway rating when CR tests them on it's own test. So the CR testing is something of a Sanity check for catching cheaters. Eventually Hyundai was found to have a systemic "mistake" in their testing (AKA cheating). They had to roll back mileage claims across the board and give payouts to customers.
The discrepancy between CR and EPA for Hyundai models before they were caught cheating was 1-3 MPG.
Fords new Hybrids are now falling short by 6-9 MPG and Ford has a new (successful) Ad campaign targeting Toyota, claiming better fuel economy. These new Ford hybrids are the first to make significant sales inroads against Toyota. If anything MPG advertising has even more effect on Hybrid sales.
It isn't hard to see how Fords interests are benefited by high test scores, on a test they administer to themselves, even more than they were for Hyundai before they were caught cheating. It certainly smells like something rotten in Dearborn Mi.
I looked up the recycling efficiency of Aluminum in this case and found it was about 15%. This is worse efficiency than the lowest number you see for an Gas Engine. So using something like this for day to day usage seems out of the question.
But with the right packaging it might be a decent range extender in addition to a Lithium main battery pack.
And this company failed due to the current trend in American economics. Mr. Fisker wanted to invest and build to create a product to sell.
This company failed becuase it had a poorly engineered product, with outsourced drivetrain, and outsourced production. That product was one of the most unreliable cars produced in the 21st century so far in an era when cars are getting more reliable.
Mr. Fisker most likely departed because he wanted out of a sinking ship. There was no investing to save this turkey.
I get the idea of more evening sun in the summer, but once you recognize that, what is the benefit of switching it back in winter.
In the winter I end up going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark anyway and when the day is long enough for it to matter, I would still prefer to go to work in the dark and come home in light.

Just because IBM eventually successfully migrated to a new business model, is no guarantee that Microsoft will.
They will have declining stock values to match declining revenues, until they show some clear signs of reversing that trend.

Neil Young is an aging rocker with hearing damage. There is no way he can tell the difference except in his own mind.
Even among people good hearing, only a minority can detect a difference between lossless and properly encoded higher bit rate (~200K+) lossy.

In the depths of winter we get ~9 hours of daylight.
Major Commuting starts are 7AM in the morning. Major Commuting ends after 6 PM in the evening. That's 11 hours.
No matter how you fiddle with it, most people are going to commute in the dark in the morning, or the evening, or BOTH.
I wouldn't care if it is DST all year or Standard time all year, but the switch really should go.
