I was commenting on this: The only way you can get spam this way is by OPTING IN like I do with my carrier for SMS notifications for monthly freebies like credits or talk time etc:D
If someone had informed me that I could opt out (which I now do) then I would - opting out of spam texts isn't exactly well known.
This whole/. thread is spawned from that fact.
In the UK I've been recieving text message spam for a while, and recently there has been a massive surge in the number of text message "Scams" being sent out.
Generally of the type "You have a new voicemail, call XXX to listen to it", where XXX is a premium rate number.
Highly, highly irritating - now all we need is a baysian text message filter;)
I don't know about the rest of you geeks, but after a few nights of mad coding to meet a deadline switching your sleep pattern back to a semi-regular one is utter hell!
If thing actually works and turns out to be a fair bit cheaper, I'll be first in the queue!!
When you read how it's done, its really not that impressive at all - essentially just videoing the area behind him, and then using a video projector to shine it on to him.
This has been done - There was a programme on Channel 4 (UK) about three weeks ago in which they successfully built his glider and flew it.
It flew very well, although it was apparently like nothing that currently exists with regards to handling, and it had no yaw (I think thats the word) at all.
Mod parent +1000 moronic
If you're compiling openoffice from source on gentoo I consider you to be a bit of a muppet, there are openoffice-bin ebuilds for a reason you know ;)
Thanks for my first good laugh of the day :D
Actually, XFCE with the Gnome taskbar instead of the XFCE one is just about perfect.

Rubbish - I've NEVER done that with my current phone, and I still get them...

So what? It's still nothing like what these guys are doing!
In countries where computers/power are limited, every single box, no matter how slow it is will be used as a proper machine, not a bloody terminal.
You seem to be missing the point of what these guys are doing.
Interesting! I never knew that......*bumbles off to install gnomemeeting*
Yes, that may be so - but if you're a linux user wanting to talk to lots of friends who just happen to use windows, its ideal!

Hello Mr.BatteryLife
I think you'll find that sony ericsson released the first device like this called the HBM-30.
Actually, it means to throw *something* out of a window, not just a person.
Is it sad that I know that?
Does anyone have any idea what the music from the video is? It sounded like Crystal Method stuff, but its not....
Help please?
You can get both a dyndns client and a webserver for the sony ericsson P800/P900, so there you go, all bases covered :)
After googling a bit I found the website of the guy developing it: http://projects.star.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/projects/MEDI A/xv/oc.html

I had the same idea a few weeks ago when wandering round a local church - imagine placing these speakers in the roof attached to positional motors.
:D
I'd love to see how people praying actually reacted when they heard the "Voice of god"

That'll teach me not to use the preview button. I meant "joke".
You missed the joe didn't you...
For those wondering what a 419 Scam is, they obviously don't have an email address.
Hehe, milking your relationships for karma on slashdot - thats a new one :D
/me secretly wishes he'd met matt now
My point was that it was from a movie score, and thereby not something you would expect a service like this to cover - but whatever :)
