...because part of that is studying another country's culture, and that's important too, but make it count for 1 tech and 1/2 a math credit (a semester's worth of math; thus doing it for 2 years would count as 1 math credit, and 2 tech credits...if they really want to encourage this, that's at least along the right lines of what they should do). Remember that technically, as has been pointed out in previous comments, math is a "foreign language" too (because it has syntactical and grammatical rules that need to be adhered to).
"Last but not least, do not buy them/allow them to play game consoles (which are always counter-productive, as opposed to a computer, which can be used for school/learning)"
Not really....I played games consoles all the time as a young lad. I didn't really start using a PC for anything more than games until I was...13, maybe. I'm now 20, at a university with a very good CS program, with hopes of going into the games industry. I don't really see why you shouldn't let them play consoles. They're fun, and in my case, inspired creativity.
This is what I use. Relatively straight forward: up: up arrow down: down arrow strafe left: left arrow strafe right: right arrow jump: middle click (though this depends on the game...for something like UT this works fine...but CS:S...)
I made the mistake of comparing mediums when I first saw the tv series, and I was thoroughly disappointed. I had heard a lot of bad stuff about this movie, so when I went to see it, I had somewhat low expectations, and they were very much surpassed. No, this isn't the book...this is the movie. It's supposed to be different; Douglas Adams even intended it to be so when he wrote the screenplay. Sure they cut out a few jokes, or executed them somewhat poorly, however, there are quite a few extra stuff they put in that wasn't in the book or the series, and this more than makes up for it in my opinion.
Highly recommended, for newcomers and (open minded) hardcore fans alike.
This has probably been mentioned already...but I just want to throw this out there...not like I use mod points or anything anyway:
In my software engineering class, we are just starting to study classical vs open source software models...and when I approached the professor with the question of freedom in OSS, he said:
"Open Source is not free as in "free beer", but free as in "freedom of speech"."
I found this very profound, and it has opened my mind and hopefully in the future inspire me to develop open source software.
Yes, $20, which is less than the price of an average meal out.
Not if you're a college student (I get discounts;-)).
Anyway, as iterated before, "it doesn't matter what browser you use as long as it isn't IE." I use Firefox. That's my choice. If we all work together and use different browsers, we will stop the monopoly on the browser market and(heard this somewhere before...) there will not be a browser that the majority of people use...so the likelihood of one browser being hijacked will be less.

This is why I always save my installers. :)
Also, does the new Deer Park Alpha count in this total?
