"Most people just can't think for themselves..."
Yeah, and they often blurt out fanboyish opinions without ever giving other games a chance too.
All too often I see, say, the latest Rockman or Sonic title being criticised by these Zombie Gamers for being too "cute" or "kiddie", when they haven't even attempted to play or enjoy them. It's a sad state of affairs.
"mp3 music is illegal"
Really? Even independent music that's intentionally up for download in order to get exposure? Or MP3s that are created by ripping the contents of one's legally purchased CDs to one's hard drive for the purposes of putting them into a larger playlist?
"Then you've got console games, where demos are only obtained through magazines and are often inaccurate as well because they're 6-month-old betas in many cases."
Don't forget that there are also consoles where demos aren't easily produced or available at all - like the cartridge-based Game Boy Advance.
1: I hope they use the Saturn version of Rockman 8, and not the PSX one (the Saturn one had two extra bosses - Cut Man and Wood Man, from earlier games in the series - and slightly better music)
2: With regard to updated soundtracks, here's hoping they re-dub the voices in Mega Man 8 with actors, as opposed to hoboes. (if you've heard the game, you'll know what I mean)
"The GBA, while only as powerful as the lower end PDAs, still has more than enough processing power for most portable applications and a color screen to boot. I'd bet it's already got MP3 players."
The GBA does indeed have an MP3 device available for it, JTLYK;) It's an official gadget, too - been in Japan for a while, and should be available in the West pretty soon.
A technically adept friend informs me that the storage medium used by the N-Gage has zero copy-protection on it whatsoever. I don't know for sure, but that's what I heard.
"Guns are used for recreation, just like video games. I see people here talking about personal responsibility, and how stupid it is to blame an inanimate thing for the actions of someone, and yet many of those people are sending their little "ban guns" agenda in the same breath.
Don't you all see the hypocrisy?"
Putting a video game into a console isn't nearly as dangerous as using a firearm.
"It doesn't seem to matter that there's a sticker on the front of the box that says M; 13 year olds are playing this stuff" The ratings are there for a reason, so why are the parents those ratings are there for still letting their 13-year-olds play these titles?
Perhaps they were stopped from playing games when they were kids by people who'd listened to the "Video games are tools of Satan!"-style propaganda that was put about by some organisations back in the early '90's...?
I disagree that games are "hurt" by the "geek stereotype" as the article implies. It seems more like the casual-trendy-gamers don't like us geeks hurting their image. Too be honest, some of us geeks don't like the casual-trendy-gamers hurting our image.;P
Games haven't been damaged by the whole geek association - they've been damaged far more by the dumbing-down and removal of fun and challenge for the sake of these "PlayStation-generation" gamers who want to tout their consoles as some sort of fashion accessories rather than play proper games like us old-schoolers always have.

Hey, stranger things have happened.
