"Apparently the rest of the world isn't happy about the US franchise on internet governance"
Correction, the media are not happy about the US governing the internet and want to create some silly U.S bashing stories. Nobody asked me what I thought.
This U.N you speak of, is it not N.U?. Meaning "Not Us"?. Because that's the answer they seem to give to every damn problem that does require them to put their hands in their pockets for cash and their bullets in their rifles for action.
Is this the same N.U that let 8000 muslims get slaughtered in the balkans during the mid 90's?
Is this also the same N.U that let 1million Rwandans get slaughtered in the 90's?
Finally, is this the same N.U that let 4000 americans get slaughtered in new york 9/11 by not noticing a terror network maturing in their back yard?.
U.N my foot. Feed them to the donkeys. Let them stick to what they do best....nothing.
Perhaps you should follow your brothers footsteps and you too can 'get off the merry-go-round'.
Out of the hundreds of people that read my first reply only a handful bothered to respond to something they interpreted as a challenge rather than a simple fact of life. I guess you were not one of the smarter ones. My post simply says, if you don't know shit then don't speak more shit.
The problem with the world is that there are too many people commenting on things they know nothing about and trying to palm opinion off as fact (cue Michael Moore).
"They maybe wrong, uneducated and just plain stupid"
You said it. Just because you have an opinion, does not mean you spread it like gospel. Opinions should be spoken amongst friends, not on international websites where any braindead half wit can read them.
I am here for one reason, to tell the bigheads who think they know it all to stick to what they know. I did not post the original story, if I want to find out about world terror events then the BBC will do, not/.
Racism, Prejudice and utter bollocks all in one post!
Looks like you need a new job mate, it is not your fault everyone in your office thinks your a dickhead and you have no life. Nevermind, your paycheque will be coming soon so you can buy another brand new 'No War' T-shirt, well done my friend!.
For those idiots here that think they know about warfare and national security, sit back shut up and do what you do best, type code at your bosses bark.
If you don't have military combat experience or have members of your family involved in the war on terror then do not comment.
The most some of you idealists have seen of war is playing call of duty, so shut it. Your pathetic arse will be saved by the strong and brave who dodge the bullets from these ruthless killers.
You will still get your pathetic pay check so you can preach your anti war rhetoric and chant your idealisms.
For those of you with respect, dignity and the wisdom to not comment on subjects you know nothing about, thankyou. It is a tough time for us brits right now.
He is a fool and obviously thinks he can say what he wants and still rake in the cash from companies, you can't!. If you want the cash you gotta play the game.
Anti War protesters need a good bashing up now and again, they love it and it keeps them in check.
As for Guantanamo and terrorists, think about it. I am not in jail, the police don't knock on my door, reason? Because I am not a terrorist...brilliant!
Don't spread hatred, Don't spread racism, don't spread prejudice and don't spread terror, result.........don't end up in Guantanamo! Go do the Math!
We are free, if we were not then we would not be writing this stuff:-)
Interesting about Edinburgh, I tried two PC world stores down south and both had stopped selling them. Maybe PCW have shifted their stance yet again.
I know several people that have purchased boxed operating systems either via the net or via stores. I purchased two box sets when I was migrating from Windows to Linux in the late 1990's and my friends dad who is a teacher has bought boxed sets in the last couple of years.
Many users like to meddle with PC's at the weekend, they may not know a lot but they know how to buy a CD and run an install program. Many of the install programs on Modern Linux distros are easier and more powerful than XP so there is no harm in the average PCW shoppers 'having a go'.
PC World in England starting selling Linux distributions from Red Hat and SUSE some time back, along with some other apps.
I went in a short while ago and found that they had all been pulled from the shelves. I asked an assistant who did not know what open source software was so had to ask someone else. The other assistant said "They did not sell very well" so we stopped selling them.
Let me get this straight, a multi tasking, multi user operating system with over 1000 programs does not sell for £50 but a bare copy of Windows XP with no applications coming complete with an out-of-the-box security nightmare sells like hot cakes for £130? I don't think so.
It seems a bit strange that PC world sell OSS when it is was not that popular, now that it is more popular they stop selling it. I fear a bung from MS may have had something to do with it.
IE is absolutely rubbish and so out of date. I cannot believe that people still download and use it with so much other competition around. Firefox absolutely wipes the floor with it and I am not 100% keen on Firefox!
I have to use IE on my Uni PC's and it chuckles me when I see people click on a link and get blasted with new Windows and popups, it is an absolute joke and should be dumped by all. If there were awards for the worst pieces of software ever written then I believe the IE series would scoop the lot.
Internet Exploring for those who do not know better.
Freeloaders are threatening the future of P2P technology and giving us law abiding P2P users a bad name. If you can't afford to buy the titles, go get a better job!
rational - With business destroying security holes being discovered on an almost weekly basis, Windows as an enterprise platform is not my rational choice. The main problem I found with Windows was not the bug ridden and security flawed code but more the technical in-ability of the system administrators assigned the job of implementing and maintaining the software. You can get 25k per year jobs supporting Windows without knowing hardly anything about networks, security or computers in general. Try blagging a un*x or NetWare job, the sysadmin will bust you in minutes.
economic - Licensing costs for Microsoft products are the most expensive in the market, look at Office!. All you get for your money is girlie programs and a nice big hug and goodbye. And a licence is ALL you get, you do not own the software, it is not yours. At least with linux it's the closest you can get to actually owning software which you didn't write yourself.
I am more than happy for Windows to stay in the Market, because it is kids stuff and it leaves the big boys toys like un*x/Linux/NetWare to the pro's. The windows (experts?) have a common goal:
'one day I will be good enough to support Linux....'
Let's not be too hasty in cursing novel here. Remember, this is a long established company with a billion dollars in cash and no debts. Unlike Microsoft, Novell is a company that is very much in touch with it's community and always has been. Microsoft takes your cash, ships you a pony product then kicks you in the balls whilst the bells of the cash register ring.
I have met so many Novell experts over the years who love the company and love the products and actually solved problems using them. Brainshare, Cool solutions, CNE, classic Novell stuff. I have never met a proper Microsoft expert and don't know if any exist. People tend to just support Windows 'cos it's an easy way to get a job' not because they love it and believe in the technology and the company.
Novell breeds die hards, so does Linux, it's a match made in heaven, give it a chance.
Try to stay on topic.
"the liberal media", its old already, nobody's buying it anymore"
The media is rubbish, journalists suck. Nobody's buying it? Are you already past saving then?
The media OWNS you my dear boy/girl.

I am saying don't post your point of view unless it is fact and you are well qualified to deliver it, if not then shut the fuck up.
If someone has a theory then I want proof, I am a scientist not a disciple.
If dickheads want to talk bollocks then place the evidence on the post before talking the bollocks then one may get believed.
Opinions are a waste of time, they are for dumb ass "journalists".

I don't hate the USA, I love it. USA is #1. I sleep under the stars and stripes every night and I live in england!
