    He doesn't organize his files, he doesn't care about file hierarchies, he just wants his file.

    Gawd, the hell. I want a system that forces the user to organize his stuff. I'm sick of seeing desktops so cluttered with icons that there's no room for anything else. I wouldn't mind shoving that Ubuntu Netbook Remix interface down their throats. I mean, I make my desktop a mess too, but I clean up my shit eventually. Tons of people (like my sis) simply DON'T, EVER. EVERYTHING GOES ON THE DESKTOP. That's ridiculous. Can't understand the concept of folders? No computer for you!

    It wasn't until Windows 3 that you could argue the Windows GUI was even close to the Mac's, and that is really stretching the point.

    Talk about stretching. I don't think early versions of Windows were in the same taxonomic rank. Even the newer ones don't come close.

    ...considering Mandrivia costs 60 euros...

    Actually they have a gratis version (One) and a commercial version (Powerpack); they're almost the same, but Powerpack includes some non-free software.

    Taking in account inflation alone: according to The Inflation Calculator , $1295 in '85 dollars is equal to $2558.09 in '08 dollars.

    But those numbers alone don't tell the whole story. Later Amigas were cheaper. And consider that the Amiga was far more advanced than the PC at the time it was introduced, although the price was similar. You can say the inferior system won, likely due to Commodore's sheer business incompetence. But anyway... it's all in the realm of "what if" now.

    If Microsoft didn't help make computers standardized and way cheap, we would still be running $3000 computers, especially if IBM or Apple was at the helm. There might not be even Intel today.

    Consider this: the original Amiga was released in 85 for $1295; and pretty much everything about it, especially its audiovisual capabilities, was years beyond the day's DOS-based machines.

    There are many anime fans who would much rather watch the original with subtitles than with sub-par voice acting and many references, scenes or entire characters removed or changed.

    O rly? Well, I'd rather watch the original with subtitles than even the most competent dub. That goes for animation, TV shows, movies, and games: the original voice acting must absolutely NOT be changed in localization, be it English, Japanese, Russian, Swahili, Elvish, Klingon, Pig Latin, or Swedish Chef!
