First of all Sven Co-op is a co-operative mod, not a deathmatch mod. Comparing Co-op with deathmatch is not very fair.

Secondly, there is actually a c&c map for Sven Co-op called cnc_defense which can be found here:

Yeah I'm running Seagate Barracuda IV, actually two of them (80gb). I can't hear them, I can't hear them spin, I can't hear them read or write.

Only downside is that they generate alot of heat but who cares. Everyone is so focused on keeping their pc cool nowadays, why? A year or two later they have replaced most parts of it anyway.
Sure if it's cool it may last longer. I'm not entirely convinced that a cool pc affects its life span that much anyway. I won't believe it until my computer is on fire I suppose.

  7. ICQ and IRC on Yahoo Messenger Blocks Outside IM Clients · · Score: 1

Another one down, sure the protocol will probably be reverse engineered sooner or later but it's no fun being forced into using a specific client. I hope this doesn't happen to icq, I know it can't happen to IRC so if ICQ gets shut down I guess then only IRC remains for me. Oh well...

  8. No Amiga on Mini-ITX AmigaONE Board · · Score: 1

I used to be a hardcore AmigaFreak back in the good old days A500-A1200. I still have my A1200Tower though (home made/customized), but when gfxcards and ppc for Amiga started to get popular I decided to leave the platform. I mean I do have UAE installed but mostly for the sake of the olden goldies.

I'm pretty sure that PPC is better than any x86 architecture but to me it just seems like a mac without MacOS, it's no Amiga.

Amiga has to me always to me been about the cool hardware with lots of custom chips, but even more important, it's users. I think the community is still pretty strong but I haven't been very active the last years so I'm not sure how big it is. I'm not sure this hardware will do much good, but it'll keep some of the masses entertained for a while.

If I were to involve myself with Amigarelated stuff today I'd rather go with something like the AROS OS: http://www.aros.org

There are two x86 flavours of AROS (with binary compatibility). AROS/x86 Native (bootable from CD/HD) and the one that runs ontop of AROS/Linux for compatibility.

As I said I'm not very keen on getting new hardware, but it's still nice to see that some hardcore fans make that option available. Guess I'll be watching this though and see what happens to it.

  9. Where did my bookmarks go? on Microsoft Identifies, Patches Another Critical RPC Hole · · Score: 1

All I can say is Holy Crap!

I installed this patch and as I am behind a router I feel pretty safe so I didn't do the immediate reboot thing.

Later while switching tasks with alt+tab my Win2k system locks up, I try to take it down safe in all possible ways but noo. So I do the hardware reboot thing. Next time I boot up all my MozillaFirebird bookmarks are GONE!? I didn't even have Mozilla at the timepoint of the crash! This is really scaring me.

Sure I have a week old backup copy of my bookmarks safe, but why did my bookmark file get baleeted? Did microsoft do this to me because I'm not using their browser or is this just merely a coincidence?

Well I'm off to restore that backup...
