I have a real question. Why did Comair's system fail in the first place? Was it due to a design flaw requiring it's replacement in 2004? Was it an irreplaceable piece of hardware which died?
If I remember correctly, the ID number to index schedule changes (which was a 16-bit integer) overflowed. I think they said they never expected more than 32,000 changes in a month.
It's not as cool as you'd think though... pressing buttons is actually easier than saying "One-One" or "Up Up Up" to change channels... plus you feel like a weirdo alone in a room talking to yourself...
If I read a couple of my friend's infos, it crashes.
Someone told me to turn on "Ignore font faces" in Preferences > Conversations > Message Text, and that fixed the problem with it crashing when I check certain people's infos. My guess is that it can't handle fonts you don't have installed or something like that.
Ha, I'm not sure... but going to the Coral Cache of the home page, you get the ISP's slogan... looks like he got shut down, and now the cache has updated to include the shut-down version of the site... oh well, it worked earlier today.
Some of the companies, foolishly, make you listen to an entire voicemail message before deleting it (in the cell phone world Cingular does this too)
FYI: On my Cingular phone, 7 is the erase button after a message, but if you push 7-7 during a message it will stop playback and erase it. Don't know if it works on all phones/plans or just mine.
Dunno why I got modded troll up above... I was actually curious. Not that I actually expected them to add Firefox support, but unlike before it actually loads for me when i go to it in firefox... it just doesn't work, so I thought, maybe, just maybe, it was a new feature...
I second the Hypercard suggestion... although getting a Mac that runs it probably isn't worth the time if you don't already have one.
That was the only exposure I had to anything beyond HTML until my senior year of High School. Once we got the Internet, I realized you could download other people's stacks and see their source!! That was my introduction to programming. Before that I didn't even know what loops were, and so I did *everything* with recursive functions... it made them a lot less scary when we covered them in CS class. Hypercard didn't really like that though... after a while it would run out of memory and give a message that said "Too Much Recursion!"... not that I knew what that meant back then.
It's a great environment to learn in, so it can do some basic things on it's own. (Like link buttons to other cards) Then you can the resulting HyperTalk code that it generated, and begin to get a sense of the syntax.
I made everything from stupid games, to fun games, to a program that ran on startup that acted as a login-manager (of course you just could Force-Quit it, but it was pretty cool when I was that age).
And FatBits... FatBits were friggin awesome when you were 8 years old, so your mom would probably like them too.
I agree with you, but I think (hope) he meant the people at Roku who set up the box didn't do a very good job of customizing it for what they were using the system for before they shipped it.
Stories like this bring us closer to universal, homicidal rage against spammers.
Can we add universal, homicidal rage against the idiots who are dumb enough to send money/reply to the spammers?
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like if everyone were ignoring emails that had subjects like "northland elicit blest voltage calorimeter..." then spam would go away... since there would be no money in it. So, apparantly there are people in the world dumb enough to do business with companies that send emails like:
I can recommend ano ther company that can provide you with 2.3 % fi xed ra.te for 20 ye ars. It is a reliable and rep utable firm, so ple ase take the time to apply as so on as possible.
I'm dual-booting with XP, but I just left the partitions as they were from when I set it up while installing RH9. If you have an old, working version you might be ok to upgrade if you just don't mess with the partitions?
And even if a bunch of butt-munches start "sharing" their music with others, that means more AAC files out there, which means a better chance we'll see more MP3 players that include AAC support in the future.
Isn't this not what Apple wants though? According to The Register, Apple loses money on iTMS, but makes it back selling Ipods. So, if there are all sorts of competing AAC players, this would hurt Apple's iPod margins... and be bad for business.
Especially since (if they're smart) they'll begin by targeting companies who they think (for whatever reasons) would be most likely to buy licenses. This way, they can say thay 20% of companies are cooperating. When actually, they got 3 out of 15 of what they decided were their *best* targets. This trend likely won't extendto all complanies.
CONCLUSION
This study shows that a significant positive correlation does not exist between the behavior of pets in the San Jose area and the occurrence of earthquakes within the same area over the three year period from January 1983 through December 1985. Based on this random disappearance of pets with respect to earthquakes,no scheme seems possible to predict earthquakes using newspaper reports of missing pets.
Also: the R in RSA is Ron Rivest, not Michael Rabin.
Yeah ... until you actually do a search for something.
I have to say, I was more impressed with Google personal homepage when it was called start.com.
Avalon isn't guaranteed to be in Vista??? What are you talking about, where did you hear this?

They're aparantly also coming to the USA, but not until 2006
I think maybe that's why it's their 2nd biggest mistake.
That makes sense... didn't know the technical reasons behind it. Thanks!

Doesn't seem to work too well with Firefox, but I could just be an idiot. Can anyone cornfirm that it's still IE-Only?
