    I've been watching FreeView in the UK for at least the last 5 years. My latest card is a Nova T 500. It worked out of the box, with in the in kernel dvb_usb_dib0700 driver.

    What problems are you seeing?

    In engineering, a useful aproximation for pi is 3. There is no aproximation of i as an integer.

    Debian is my personal desktop of choice, it's a brand that many folk trust.
    There are also the debian based distros, including ubuntu, knoppix and linspire.

    Wouldn't someone from, say, the Samba team be more qualified to judge whether Microsoft's internetworking protocol documentation was sufficiently made open?

    If only. The licence used makes it impossible for any Samba Devs to even look at the code.

    Important: In order to avoid any potential licensing issues we require that anyone who has signed the Microsoft CIFS Royalty Free Agreement not submit patches to Samba, nor base patches on the referenced specification.

    It's kind of a shame that the killer app of distributed ad-hoc networks is so generally harmful, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Get a firewall, install you patches, and hope to God that nobody targets you with a DoS attack.
    Botnets are bad, but not everything.
    The killer app for distributed ad-hoc networks is still IMHO peer to peer sharing.

    Here's the letter I've sent to Sony:
    Dear Sony,

    I'd like you to know how displeased I am with the DRM in your Compact Discs, and I'm saddened that "Van Zant's" CD is reported to have a "rootkit" virus that infects only Windows. As a long time advocate of OSS and as a GNU/Linux user I stongly urge you to develope a cross platform DRM "rootkit" that supports free software.

    I think you owe your customers better.

    If you want a balance between bleeding edge and stability use the last bugfix release of the previous 2.6 kernel.

    i.e. use kernel 2.6.12.6 because it should be more stable than the new 2.6.13.

    I really don't understand how you could be quite so wrong.

    I've an Athlon "1700+" which I've underclocked to 800 Mhz. That drops the CPU temperature in excess of 10 C. That's going to double it's usable life.

    It may even give me enough time to finish transcoding the LOR trilogy.
