    if you believe god is both omnipotent and omniscient there can be no free will. by creating a being or object god already knows every interaction that object or being will have and it's effect on the universe.

    what reason would a purely good being have for willfully creating a being of pure evil? unless it either had to be done as balance or to prepare things for some inevitable occurance which even God cannot prevent.

    Fact: the world contains evil.
    Fact:Creation of evil is an evil act

    Conclusions:Either God performs evil acts and cannot be trusted, God is bound by some greater force requiring balance, or God cannot accurately predict the consequences of it's own actions.

    i get some noise if i put my phone right next to the speakers, my girlfriend uses the cheapie OEM speakers and i have to shut off the speakers before making any calls, even a yard or two away my phone will buzz the speakers annoyingly loud.

    perhapse a half drop at 25 years then? a work automatically loses protection in it's whole form, however derivitive works rights would last for the life of the author, while corporate created works would last 25 years period.

    as an artist how would you feel about a change of copyright to 25 years? a quarter century is quite a while but not too long for popular works created in a person's lifetime to drop into the public domain within their lifetime.

    if you are using any normal linux in a safety critical environment you are an idiot, and should be arrested for reckless endangerment.

    there are operating systems designed for maximum reliability and fault tolerance hardware wise. unless designed for fault tolerance a physical failure in the device could have a catastrophic effect far worse than sudden complete failure

    those patients would probably do better as they would deveolp from the start vision matching their perception, when you start at a whole lot of dpi then have to get used to 8x8 you get pretty messed up, if you learn to see in 8x8 you will probably be able to move around on foot just fine in most places, moving your head slightly to make edges and paths stand out better.

    each file would be assigned a username consisting of the MD5 checksum of the file, and a password either a random number or the file MD5 encryped by some secret key, these would be added to the link in the email making unauthorized access to the file just short of exactly as likely as unauthorized access to the email.

    actually the success of mediocrity is what will likely kill HDDVD and blueray. DVD looks good and most will not be willing to pay more money for a disc they have to replace all their players to use.

    DVD pretty much killed VHS because VHS sucked, crappy sound crappy video and as a bonus sometimes the tape would get screwed up destroying both the tape and the VCR.

    walmart is pushing UMD movies because they want to get rid of them, and sony pays for the shelf space. nintendo doesn't need to pay for prominant shelf space as their customers go looking for games and then buy them.

    Linux MTP interoperability can be achieved by using gPhoto which supports PTP with some MTP extensions, or by using libmtp with gnomad2.

    I switched to star office 5, which emachines had bundled with my computer when my copy of office 95 and publisher 97 refused to open the new word 2000/XP files and rather than warez it i gave star office a shot, this was back before OOo even existed so i was very happy with it back then and have used SO / OOo ever since

    I agree that republican control is harmful it is important to remember that democrat control won't really be any better, the best situation, as shown in the 90's, is a deadlock between opposing congress and presidancy, so the governement is too busy fucking itself to be fucking over citizens and businesses truely innovating.

    the only way to improve on opposing congress and executive branch would be for three parties to share each house of congress and the executive branch, in general the more paralysed a governement is the less danger is to the freedom of the people.
